Homeschool Happenings

    Good morning Ladies !!!

This morning I have been sitting and thinking and praying about school in our home.

What does God want for this new year?

How can I incorporate more life skills into our schooling?

These are just a couple of the questions I have brought before the Lord this morning.I sense that God is making a change in our schooling this year. You see, last year my husband and I changed a few thing in our schooling we felt were God directed. We normally would school like most people who follow a school based time frame.Start in August, end in June kinda thing. But,after much prayer felt led to do something completely different than what we were used to or most people in our homeschool group never did.We decided to school for three months and have a whole month off through out the year.

After we began our year we were soon to see why God led us in this direction. My husband had an aneurysm in his brain rupture March 31st{the last day of our three months of schooling}He spent all of April in intensive care and a rehabilitation center to learn to walk and talk again. He was released the first week of May and we were back to schooling for three months again. When August came, our next month off,we spent most of it camping at his Uncles place way back in the woods. This was excellent rehabilitation for my husband. We started back to the books Sept,Oct,and Nov. In November we found out my husband was going to be needing a surgery in Dec. to clip the aneurysm for good.December was our month off school.

I thank God for his supernatural leading in our home and school. If we hadnt dared to be different than most homeschoolers in how we schooled  and obeyed the leading of the Holy Spirit than our year may have been ten times more chaotic.I may have given up and sent them to school from being over whelmed and thinking they were behind.God knew what our year held and He knew what to do to get us through it as a family.

I guess what I am trying to say today is:

Allow the Holy Spirit to lead you day by day in your schooling.God knows what your children are going to be,He knows who their future mates are and exactly what they need.Even though sometimes He asks us to step outside the box and be different he will give us what we need to accomplish it.So,if God is leading you to try something different this year but you dont know anyone else who is doing it,so what! Go for it !Gods ways are true and right and He will lead and direct your path.I am not saying you will be having a hard year like we did,but I am saying Trust the Lord with your school. He is the one who called you,and He will equip you.

Love and Blessings,

Rachel
