Growing in Grace-Living Life One Day at a Time

Good Morning

Posted on Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at 06:58

What a chilly morning to wake up to.Looking outside the fog is everywhere and it makes me just want to snuggle up on the couch with an afghan this morning.I guess it is supposed to warm up later today though.I am looking forward to that.I hope to get out in the yard after school is done today. We have been studying the planets together.Apologia has some of the best curriculum for science.I love it because it is all creation based with no evolution theory at all.I mean, who really believes we were formed from a big boom,or came from a monkey for heavens sake?I thank God for truth of His word.

I have been in the yardsale spirit here lately. We have been going about every weekend to try and find things our home needs. My sweet little one Kayti found several summer things last Saturday.I was relieved, since I knew she needed them so badly.I hate to spend money for things that I know I am able to get at a yardsale for a good price.Especially when I know my kids are growing fast and wont be in the stuff for long.

I found several needed household and camp items for nearly nothing.I found for our camper a mr.coffee coffee maker for 2 bucks and seven throw rugs for a dollar.I gave my sister in law Missy half of them for her camper, since I had way too many just for mine.

I have also been into the gardening mode.A friend gave me several new plant starts for my memory garden to help fill it in.My oldest son also bought me some sweet william for mothers day and lavendar. Both of these are perennials and will return every year.I love the plants that return, but I also think some annuals are pretty and worth buying and saving the seeds from for next year.I bought a whole flat of marigolds for 6 dollars at a yardsale and planted them in a new garden I made by my memory garden.Marigolds were one of my moms favorite flowers,so I filled my memory garden with a bunch. When my mom was alive I never shared her love for flowers and plants.I dont know, maybe I was too busy with the kids being little,or my career at the time,I dont know.I am glad to say now that she passed a love for beauty down to me and I am grateful to her for that.

Well,I am off to get some work done around here before I get the kids up.I love the quiteness of the morning and the peace God brings in it.

Till later,

Love and hugs,

Rachel

Enjoying spring time weather

Hello Everyone,

The weather has been great here in Ohio and I have been taking advantage of it.The kids and I went mushroom hunting this week with their big bub Billy and found a few shrooms to add to our dinner pot for the nite.Oscar and Billy went and found about 200 together ,which was a big addition to our dinner pot.lol It is alot of fun and great family excercise and quality time together.I have not been out again this week, but Oscar and Billy have. They cant seem to get enough of it.

We have been busily working together in the yard as a family also.It is amazing what your yard can collect over the winter.I have been deweeding all the flower beds and getting them ready for new plants to be added.I also added another flower bed around an old water pump I got from a yard sale last year.It is so cute.I will grab pics later for you to see.I have also been transplanting a few things to different beds, since they are in much need of division.Everything is growing so well this year,God has been good to our little gardens. We dont have a huge yard, but we do love and try to take care of what God has given us .

Looks like we will be taking off to go camping this weekend again.More family bonding time.I thank God for it.We need to take acvantage of each day He gives us with our family members.Forget about the past, dont worry about the future, but live one day at a time and enjoy every day.

Well,I am off to do some more work in the yard and then I have a tops meeting after dinner for a weigh in.Hope everything is well and blessed for you in your little part of the world.

Love and hugs,

Rachel

Busy Week

Hello All,

I havent blogged much lately due to being very preoccupied here at home with things that need to be done.It leaves me for little time to be on the computer and do much more than read a few blogs.

We have the whole month off from school,so I have been trying to get as much accomplished as possible before hitting the books again.Decluttering is a big thing around here when we have our month off from school .Seems like it dosent take long for everything to pile up and get out of hand if we let it.I was able to give alot of stuff away which I love doing.I would rather see someone use the stuff than take it to a goodwill where they sell it for too high prices anyway. We have also been getting ready for camping which is coming up real soon. Our first trip is scheduled for the 26th of this month. It may be a bit chilly but thank God for the camper this year.

I have also been taking a break from the cooking of large meals.I have been trying to fix quicker healthier meals now that we are spending alot of time outside.I just love chicken that is cooked skinless with garlic and olive oil with a dash of minced onions Mmmmm tasty and very healthy.

Lord willing I will be joining the TOPS program at our church this Friday. It is a weight loss group that offers support and encouragement to Take Of Pounds Sensibly. It is a different story when we have to face the scales each week and come face to face with our addiction to food. I believe this is going to help me alot, just facing up to my problem with overeating.I am thankful to have a husband who is encouraging me on my weight loss, but to also know that he loves me just the way I am.Unconditional love, thats the way that God loves us.That kind of love seems almost impossible for our human minds to comprehend dosent it?To know that we dont have to do anything,or be any particular way for God to love us.He is awesome and I am so glad He is in my life.

Well I have went on enough.Back to the housework and serving my sweet family.Thank you Lord for your many blessings.

In His Name,

Rachel
