Yarn Experiment

Two Ply Yarn, Silk and Wool
The weather warmed here, unbelievably, and much of the snow melted in the afternoon. To my relief the rabbit's water bottles didn't freeze and they were able to drink all day. Much better for the rabbit, and for me! This morning it is snowing again, but we're not getting the artic chill of yesterday. Snow is falling again but the sun is trying to break through the heavy clouds.
I spent the afternoon knitting, and then worked on a plying experiment I've had in mind for awhile. I spun up the silk from a silk bell that had been hand painted by a vendor at SAFF, and yesterday I filled a bobbin with white Coopworth singles. Then I plied the two together to make what I hope is an interesting variegated yarn.

Silk/Wool Two Ply Yarn
I haven't washed it yet to set the twist, so I'll see what it looks like after that is done. I've plied several other fibers together with success; we'll see how silk and wool do in the final result. I hope it works; it was fun to spin the two together and see the flow of variegated color against the white. I have a lot of silk singles around here, just waiting for something to do.
Time is passing so fast; I really need a lot more yarn for the summer and some interesting fiber done up in packages for sale. I need to be pulling out the dye pots and paint brushes for a busy time ahead!

Lovely combination of colors. Lovely look, too. I bet it's going to be very soft!!
We had 23º here, yesterday .. really nice for a walk in the snow to discuss buildings and what to do with them. Tear down and rebuild or rescue? All but one of the out buildings need something done to them!

I think it will make a very lovely project. The color combination is very nice.
Believe it or not my bunnies water froze on Sat and Sun here in Texas. We had some really wild ice and temps over the week end. my oldest daughter and her three kids rolled her SUV on Sunday morning. They are pretty shook up but ok. Missy was spitting glass from thee window shattering on the drivers side.
The highway patrolman that worked her one car accident had just come off the freeway from another one car rollover where the driver, a youth pastor at a local church had been killed. Lots of wrecks here this weekend. Texans do not know how to drive in the ice.

Your yarns are just yummy. And look at you, coming right along with your knitting. Such a talented woman you are. Gosh those bunnies are the furriest things I've ever seen. Makes me want to raise them myself. Yet I don't know anything about shearing or what to do with the fur once I get it sheared. If it's meant to be I'll find myself reading and learning more about the processes. Then i can make an informed decision. Maybe sometime next year. This year is going to be full of preparing my garden plot and getting my square foot bins made and set as well as my herbs going.
Thanks again Leslie for the encouraging words. It so lifts my heart.
Blessings.
