Eggs in the Bator!

I've got 24 turkey eggs in the incubator.  It's been 8 days now.  I tried candling, but they are slower than chicken eggs, and sometimes I think I see something, and sometimes not!  Oh! the waiting!

Well, I don't know how I get myself into these things, but back in Feb. it seemed a good idea to order eggs and receive them in May, as surely we would be living on our property by then... LOL...

Then, I only ordered 8 Beltsville and 3 Blue Slate and 3 Royal Palms.  Well, due to the generousity of one particular seller, I have 24 eggs!  And some are Standard Bronze!  They are a very pretty turkey!

I am so excited to see what happens.  Three more weeks!  Egads!

Then, I gotta worry about where these critters are going out there!  LOL... I need to build them a chicken/turkey tractor and set up an automatic watering system.  I think they will be fine out there if we check them once a week.  I might see if the neighbor's kids would check them every couple days for a few dollars.  They are great kids!  Great neighbors!

Then there is the dilemna of the goat I bought back in Jan or Feb. - again, thinking by September I would be living on my property!  LOL...  There is a lady here in town who is allowed to keep goats, by permit, I think I may ask if I could slip my baby in with hers.  At least I would get to see it that way!

We are now hoping to get moved in there by September or at least by December.  December would make one full year of paying on the place and not living there.  It's been one delay after another.  But I finally have the county on my side with the Guest House and the steel building ordered!  The crew can't get out there until sometime in July, should be done in August.  Great weather for moving!  LOL... especially for fat ladies!

Well, back to check my eggs!  The temp soared in the bator.  I don't know, I think this is the 5-6 night I have spent hours out here trying to adjust the thing either up or down.  The older model is doing great.  The new one is just not keeping a good, level temp.  Might have to return it and get another.

Off to Egg Land.

Our chicks have been hatching all morning in our incubator. I am still waiting for them to dry to take out, but they are so cute.
