Today is my brother's birthday. He was a wonderful brother. He would have been 55 today. He died from complications from diabetes nine years ago. I often dream of him and us being kids again. It seems very strange that he is gone. He was the first person I was close to to die. I saw him in the hospital and told him I loved him just five minutes before he passed. I told him Jesus was waiting for him. My mom and I tried to comfort him, telling him it was okay to leave us, and we saw a big tear roll down his right eye. We kissed him goodbye. The next day we were return and I was going to read him Psalms as they unhooked the machines keeping his body alive. He spared us this agony. He always thought of others through his life, and also through his death. He suffered alot before he died, but rarely complained. Near the end, he could not eat much, get out of bed, or do anything for himself. He had great friends who cared for him. He was in alot of pain. He was ready to go. I played a song quite often after his passing, If You Could See Me Now. It brought me alot of comfort. I sent a tape of it to my two sisters also, hoping it would also comfort them. Our prayers have all been answered I’ve finally arrived The healing that had been delayed has now been realized. No one’s in a hurry there’s no schedule to keep We’re all enjoying Jesus, just sitting at His feet If you could see me now I’m walking streets of gold If you could see me now I’m standing tall and whole! If you could see me now You’d know I’d seen His face
If you could see me now you’d know the pain has erased You wouldn’t want me to ever leave this place If you could only see me now… My light and temporary trials have worked out for my good To know it brought Him glory when I misunderstood Though we’ve had our sorrows they can never compare What Jesus has in store for us no language can share If you could see me now I’m walking streets of gold If you could see me now I’m standing tall and whole If you could see me now You’d know I’d seen His face If you could see me now You’d know the pain’s erased If you could see me now…. if you could only see me now…. I love you, Gerry! See ya soon! But not too soon! (he always had such a great sense of humor!) |
