My day was made today by a wonderful surprise. I stopped at a lady's home who sells fresh farm eggs and was in the outbuilding where her eggs are stored in refrigerators. You just help yourself to the eggs and leave your money in the "money box" for her. While we were getting eggs out I noticed some boxes were lined up dividing the room in half. And the heater was left on, probably from when they were washing the eggs, I thought. I was setting my cartons on the tall box and stepped over the boxes to grab a sack to carry my eggs home in. After I stepped back over, I saw movement coming out of the tall box and there to my amazement was a tiny black lamb. She was walking along on her "forearms" (whatever they are called on a sheep, I don't know yet!) and falling over and trying to get back up only to stagger over and fall again. I was horrified! The poor little crippled thing! It looked like it needed to be put down. I could hardly bear to watch it struggle. I hopped back over to try to put it back inside the box, and when I did she struggled to her feet and began wagging her tail and walking around! What a beautiful sight! She was absolutely gorgeous! I picked her up and showed my mom her little face. Isn't she CUTE??? What a beautiful little darling! She made my day! God is GOOD! I can't wait till I can experience this on my own farm! |
