I'm an Alaskan. born and raised. I really miss home. My family left 20 years ago (has it been that long?) while I was living overseas and I miss it. I've always missed it. But today I miss it more than usual b/c Presidential hopeful, John McCain just announced the Gov of Alaska to be his VP running mate. Now everyone's going to be talking about my home. And I'll really miss it. :( Sigh, Go Sara Palin! Yay Alaska (I've been glad about her housecleaning up there - all of the people in trouble lately for shady deals up there have been there since long before I left - that's too long to be in power when you're crooked! I leave you with this! Eight stars of gold on a field of blue - Alaska's flag. May it mean to you The blue of the sea, the evening sky, The mountain lakes, and the flow'rs nearby; The gold of the early sourdough's dreams, The precious gold of the hills and streams; The brilliant stars in the northern sky, The "Bear" - the "Dipper" - and, shining high, The great North Star with its steady light, Over land and sea a beacon bright. Alaska's flag - to Alaskans dear, The simple flag of a last frontier. |
