Just give me Jesus

Love and Agapeo

So now we have Love and Agapeo.

Our 'love' is over used, in my opinion.
I say: I love chocolate ice cream. I love the beach. I love the smell of fresh cut grass.......then I say to my kids "I love you".
Seems so shallow.

Don't get me wrong........I think the first time I really really experienced love.........was the first time I saw my daughter (10 weeks old on an ultrasound machine) and heard her heart beat. As she grew inside me....I began to really know what 'love' was.
When I held her, my son, and my youngest for the first time...that deep sense of overwhelming deep rooted love.......it's something I have never experienced before in my life.  So make no mistake, I do love my kids..........

But the filliped use of the word love.
That's what I am talking about.
I love the sun, I love flowers, I love ice cream, that kind of use.
Guilty here!!
When it comes to 'humans'..........There are very very very few people I say this too. When I tell a human "I love you"......I mean it mean it. Something that makes my skin crawl is for someone to say "I love you" when I KNOW darn good and well........they do not.
I do not tell another human "I love you" unless.......I do. I have 'hurt feelings' before because I would not say "love you too". Sorry. I will not lie to another human about that. I just can't. Nor will I pretend that "I love" someone that I don't. That's wrong too.........

Love is grossly over used.
*I am so in love*
What the heck does that mean???
*I have just fallen out of love*
WHAT IS THIS???
Love is not something you fall in and out of........People are confusing hormones and those woogie woogie emotions with the real thing.
I love my kids........and if they burned the house down, committed a horrible crime, spill milk on the new carpet..........I still love them. I don't "fall out of love" with them because they make a mistake, or do something that makes me "unhappy"...................AND I SURELY don't decided to "love the neighbors kids" instead of my own.

Can you imagine? People get divorced because they fell out of love with their spouse, and fell in love the the neighbors. The spouse just "doesn't do it for them" any more..............
Now exchange the work CHILDREN for the word SPOUSE and read that statement again.
How stupid is that???

About as stupid as divorce or the notion that you "fall in and out of love". Ok, off tangent road.....there is a reason for the word study.

I want to dig into the Two Greatest Commandments.

Matthew 22:36-40

36  "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?"
37
Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'[a]
38
This is the first and greatest commandment.
39  And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'[b]
40
All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."

Footnotes:

  1. Matthew 22:37 Deut. 6:5
  2. Matthew 22:39 Lev. 19:18

((Funny..........there is nothing "new" in the "New Testament"!!))

Jesus said: Love The Lord, YOUR GOD.
That is where I will start.....in my next blog.

Description
1 Timothy 1:15-16 Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on him and receive eternal life.
