Debudding

The kids have been doing just fine. Bella has decided to let Broken Arrow nurse, but we’re still going down every 6hours to check on them. I’m so tired, but thankful that I’m only tired from sleeping only 6hours (in less I get to take a nap - like yesterday) rather than from being completely stressed because something is wrong.

Yesterday we had some friends come over so we could burn the horn-buds on the goats so their horns wouldn’t grow. Some people let the horns grows while most use a hot iron to burn the buds. I don’t like having them burn the buds but it’s safer for everyone this way. You learn a lot when you do anything like this as well.

Rawhide’s and Flopsy’s heads started bleeding, but thankful it didn’t last long. I was worried and was glad when it stopped. They had to hold the iron a few times on Rawhide because he wouldn’t keep still. We did all the kids except for the little one, who we’re still deciding on a name for (I say Swat because he swats when you walk up to him,but Rachel says Rooster because his markings looks like a rooster on a roof) because he’s so small. When they put the iron on the buds he heats up their brains pretty well so they have to be a good size to do it. Now they all smell like burnt hair and skin. Ick! At first their mommas didn’t want them by then because they didn’t recognize the scent. Poor wittle guys.

I let Keçi and her kids out in the barnyard yesterday, and they had fun prancing around and playing with each other. Flopsy is a real cutie… she will run around her pen “tagging” Rawhide and then running off to play. So cute!

Blessings!

Tomorrow my hubby will turn 40 years old.   He took the day off so we girls can spend the day with him doing what he wants .   We are starting off the day with him sleeping in, then we girls are taking him to Northwoods Inn for lunch, then to the movies to see the new Batman movie.  For dinner we are making his one of his favorites, chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, corn on the cob , gravy , rolls.  For dessert chocolate fudge cake with chocolate ice cream.   After the girls are in bed skinny dipping with me .   On Friday we are sending him fishing for the day with his cousin.  We girls already sent him to Mexico for a few days of fishing.  I am blessed that the Lord has sent such a wonderful man to be my hubby.  We have been together for 20 years now , I can't wait to see what the next 20 years bring.

God Bless, mj

Homeschool Memoirs GraphicFrom Sprittbee

There's a brand new meme at the HSBA. Last week we started the Blogger Classmates meme and it was just too similar to the Blogger Friend School. Rather than confuse or divide, the team at the HSBA worked hard the last two days to bring a brand new meme to the table.

The new HSBA meme is called "Homeschool Memoirs"... and it will be a themed meme that will change each week and offer participants a way to keep a little homeschool journal for 2008-9. Not only that, but the meme aspires to bring you a linky each week with lots of great reading - a linky you can sign each week when your themed post is up! We hope this meme will bring homeschool mamas together and allow them to glimpse into each other's lives and connect us together.

If you haven't signed up, click over and add the graphic to your sidebar. The HSBA has provided a quick html code for you (or you can snag it from my sidebar here). Hope to see you at the HSBA as we share our hearts together this school year!

20 years now for hubby and I

Hubby and I have been together for 20 years now this month.    It is hard to believe some days and some days it is easy to see.

20 years ago Michelle was 2 years old, I was coming out of a long relationship, we broke up in July 1988. I was confused at the time of our break up and did not know what I was going to do, but God did.

I kept seeing this sexy guy who drove a nice car.   We kept looking at each other, checking each other out for weeks.  I finally one day waved at him as he drove by.  My 12 year old sister Tracy was living with Michelle and I for the summer of 1988.  Tracy was seeing a guy named Jason who was a friend of my now hubby.   So we meet in August of 1988 and started talking.  I went away to Mexico with my parents and sister while Michelle was off visiting her father.   When I got back we started dating

We hit it off well.  We had some fights, but worked it out.  It is hard when 2 very dominant people are together. It took me years to give him the head of household role.  I had to learn to let him be the boss, boy was HARD

The day we got married( March 1991) is verrry special for me not just because we got married, but because my Bubba (grandfather) picked out the day.  Bubba said you will get married and here is the day and we did!  Thank you Bubba.  Bubba went to heaven in April of 1995.

Hubby worked and works very hard to take care of his family and he did / does a great good.  He spoils us very much.    We have a good life.  I am so glad that 20 years ago God sent this sexy man my way and into the lives of Michelle and I.

Over the past 20 years we have added more children to our home, been blessed with 2 grand-babies with one more in the oven.   Hubby has blessed us with our dream's of owning horses.  Ok , it started with horses and then we slowly added more critters .

When I look at him it is like 20 years has been 5 to 10 years.  When I look at the children and the grand-babies it feels like 20 years.  We are still kinda youngish, hubby will be 40 on the 21st, I will be 39 in Nov.   We look forward to another 20 + ++++++ years together.

Thank you Lord for sending me such a wonderful man to be my husband.  Thank you for making us a family.  Thank you for the love of my life.  Thank you for all the blessings.

God Bless, mj

Matthew gave his heart to Jesus today

Hello dear friends!
My sweet baby Matthew recognized his need for the Savior today! How honored I was to lead him in prayer. Before Bible study this morning he sat near me on the couch and said, "Mommy how do I stop Satan from pulling me in hell?" I told him that ,"Satan can't pull you in Hell. Satan can only deceive you and tell you not to listen and obey God but Satan can't make anyone go to hell just like God can't make people go to heaven it has to be our choice." He sweetly looked at me and said, "Mommy I want to go to heaven and be with Jesus. I don't want Satan to trick me to be naughty." We talked for a few minutes and then I asked him if he would like to pray and ask Jesus to come in His heart. He's reply, "Yes! I really want too." What a precious moment it was. All the children in the home broke out in cheers and clapping when they heard that Matthew had asked Jesus in His heart... it sounded as if we were in a stadium and someone had just hit a home run! Well, we continued to talk about how the angels rejoice when someone comes to Christ and how we too would celebrate today.

What a precious day to remember... the day my tender baby Matthew discovered His need for Jesus!

I have no greater Joy than to hear my children walk in Truth!

My Simple Woman's Daybook for today!

For today… Monday, August 18th, 2008.

Outside My Window… I can see the back field... that is now all mowed down and the wildflowers are GONE. :(

I am thinking… about how I only have two more articles to write for Growing In Grace Magazine for the September Issue... I got two done in two days! A World Record! lol

I am thankful… the beautiful blue sky outside that is such a pretty blue.

From the kitchen… I'm making a potato, carrot, bacon, and green bean soup with onions and spices! Can't wait to eat some. :) Anybody else want any? There's plenty!

I am wearing... Blue teddy bear-cloud pj pants, yellow shirt with flowerpots on it, bear feet, and my hair is up in a ponytail.

I am creating… A little book for my Bible Study Notes. It's a really cute thing. Jocelyn found it online. She will be giving a little cute journal she made on her blog here pretty soon, so keep checking it out.

I am going… go eat some delicious soup after I am finished with this post. :)

I am reading… The Old Country by Sholom Aleichem. It's the book that the great musical The Fiddler On The Roof was based off of. Pretty neat stories. Check it out! And I will also be reading Enoch Roden's Training for the HSB Literary Club.

I am hoping… to work on my story some more today. By the way, thank you for all your suggestions... I'm still lost at picking a name! Got any more?

I am hearing… the rattle of spoons while the soup is being given out, and Caleb (2yo) looking at a book behind me.

Around the house… Everyone is getting ready to eat. Luli isn't feeling very good today. Isaac didn't fell very good last night either. Please pray for them.

One of my favorite things… is to bake something sweet, like cookies, or brownies, or a cake. I love trying something new in the kitchen. Does anyone have any recipes I can try?

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week: Well, I'll write what I plan to do for today - make some stationary, clean up the house, make something sweet, maybe some chocolate chip cookies, write more of my book, (I should say books!), and check on the baby goats.

Here is picture thought I am sharing…
This is Mr. Bennet, Jocelyn's Rhode Island Red rooster. He is one of the nicer roosters, and is very big! But he is the 'head of the henhouse'.

For Guidelines of this meme, visit The Simple Woman .I hope you will join me! If you posted your own Simple Woman’s Daybook! I really love doing this meme. :)

Being Simple Still,
    Rachel
