Summer Fun Day 1Earlier today I posted that today is our "First Day of Summer". It didn't take the girls long to find some fun things to do this morning. They concocted some nice slippery bubble solution and blew bubbles, skated, rode bikes, found a green inchworm, checked our sources-Handbook of Nature Study and Pets in a Jar, for info. on inchworms, made "Inchy" a home in a plastic container, spent hours holding that little green worm, found him a friend- a moth (to keep him company)... This afternoon we read the first chapter of Five Children and It by Edith Nesbit and a book about Lucy Maud Montgomery, author of Anne of Green Gables (one of their favorite movies). Not a bad start to some summer fun, I'd say! Summer FunThough I know it is "officially" still a few weeks away...we're starting our own summer fun today! Home "school" is officially closed for the next few weeks, and we'll be diving into all those fun things that we've not had much time for thus far..... swimming, early morning bike rides, blowing bubbles, crafts of many forms, picking herbs and wildflowers, trying new "cool" recipes, and lots of time to just "be" instead of so much "doing". We'll also be spending quite a bit of time in the shady front yard curled up on a sleeping bag, reading together. I got an unexpected surprise in my inbox this morning... a congratulations e-mail from The Crafty Crow, informing me that I was one of the winners in the drawing for Blue Yonder's Book of Days! What a nice thing to start off our summer adventures with! Yea!!! These are such fun downloadable books, I'm looking forward to trying out all the goodies with my girlies! They are only $6 per dowload, so they are quite inexpensive; but so very creative and cute. OK... I think I'll get outside and have some Summer Fun! { Last Page } { Page 3 of 7 } { Next Page } |
