A very special gift!

I got a late birthday present in the mail today from my good friend, Sandy. I had made this quilt top as a  sample for a class, in the red and white I have used for my bedroom.  Sandy took this top, layered and basted it and HAND QUILTED this queen sized quilt as a gift for me!

Sandy is the kind of friend who you call when your children are sick and you absolutely HAVE to go somewhere. She will watch them. She is the person you call when you need help of ANY kind. There is not a bigger heart anywhere.

I  am proud to say that I taught Sandy to quilt, but she surpassed my skill long ago. I don't know a better hand quilter, and I have been working in the quilt business for  15 years. She is very good, and now I have one of her quilts! She used a 1 1/2" grid over the main part of the quilt and a double cable in the border. I can't wait to get it bound!
