Suggested summer reading/garden

I can't remember if I have suggested before, but there are three books that are great for summer reading by Nancy Leigh DeMoss.  "Brokenness", Surrender, and Holiness!  Matter of fact, they are coming out with the three in one which is much cheaper in the long run!

I just started another book and have only read the introduction and I am hooked!  It is titled "Idols of the Heart, Learning to Long for God Alone," by Elyse Fitzpatrick.  There are a couple great questions to ponder:

"1.  Do I love Him with everything that I am, or are there other loves in my heart that clamor for my attention?"

2.  Do I worship additional gods, or is He always, and in every case, the supreme Ruler who receives my undivided passion and devotion?" 

I will be honest here, there are other things that clamor for my attention!  That is why I believe that God has told me to slow down this summer, so that He can deal with those things in my heart!  I do not want to have anything above or before Him.  Yet, if I was to look honestly at how I live each day, I often put my husband, my home, my goals or things to do list, my control, before Him.  I may not have a statued idol, but these things can most definately become an idol of my heart!  

I am starting to study the book of Jeremiah, where he talks about the heart a lot.  I hope to share more frequently what I am learning.

Also, in regards to my garden.  I am hoping to get it all planted within the next couple weeks, but before I can finish planting I have an important task....scare the rabbit that lives under our shed out of the yard, so I can block off where it came in!    It has already eaten 3 1/2 tomato plants.  Yikes!    Follow up info to come!
