Managing the Home!

The Proverbs 31 woman knew how to manage her home.  She provided food, portions (or chore list) for her maidservants, she was busy at home (Titus 2), she made clothing (or in this day and age bought clothing) for the different seasons, she was not afraid for her household as she was well prepared, her lamp did not go out (either because she was so busy or she was well prepared with oil....she paid the electric bill)     This woman knew how things were in her household and she took care of those things, or made sure that someone (or something....appliances) were on top of those things.

This doesn't mean that she was perfect.  I think we often pursue perfection over balance!  Perfection often can lead to stress in the home, strain in relationships, lack of rest and the sin of pride.  No, we need to find the right balance in juggling the many roles.  Our homes should be clean (that doesn't mean spotless), our meals should be healthy and helpful for strengthening the body, we should be busy at home instead of sitting on the couch watching tv and "eating bon-bon's" all day (or gossiping on the phone with friends), we should make sure that our husbands have clothing that will keep him warm when he works out in the cold.   If we live in earthquake country or areas where it is extremely cold and the electricity goes out, we should be prepared for these things.  We need to pay the bills on time.  We need to manage the things that take place in the household.  One of my jobs is to make sure that we do not have too many appliances that use a lot of water (dishwasher, washer) at the same time as it may overwhelm the septic.  It's managing all these things and much more.

We do not have to do this alone!  We have a loving Lord who wants to help guide us and direct us in how we spend our days.  We just need to seek him each morning!  I confess that I find that I often have my long things to do list going, and never think to ask the Lord if there is something else that I should be doing instead.  That' pride and sin!

Let's be good managers of the home!  Let's bring God glory by the things that take place in our home.  I know that may involve some changes, but they will be worth making!

This is one of the most beautiful, non-condemning descriptions of the elusive Proverbs 31 gal!!
Thank you.......thank you for this description.

I enjoyed this post so much, God has been impressing on my heart as well to "seek Him in the morning"-the days that I don't certainly aren't as focussed or as blessed as the days that I do seek His face early~

Managing the home is certainly not a small task!
