Garden of your heart

Today was a blessing!

It is hot here!  I usually melt in the heat, but we are  taking care of some friends dogs while they are on vacation and they have a swimming pool.  They have graciously allowed us to use it!  What a blessing it was today to swim and sit in the nice cool pool on a beautiful hot day!  :)   It made us miss our old place.  We had put in a swimming pool a couple years before we moved.  We had every intention of retiring there, but God had other plans for us.

We are enjoying our summer.  Shane is home for the summer other than some sub days!  We have enjoyed being able to spend more time together and it has been so good for him to relax and get away from work!  This is the first summer he has had off in our married life, except the one summer where his mom was really sick and so it wasn't relaxing for him at all.

My garden is growing so well.  We are eating zucchini, onions, and a few cherry tomato's.  The green beans are growing well and I figure we will be picking those within a week or so.  I am going to be canning and freezing very, very soon! :)  I am most looking forward to making salsa.  Yummy!

We have been challenged at church to look around and find someone who is not a believer and make friends with them, invite them to our home, etc.   It made me realize that it is so easy as a homemaker to not connect with others.  On my block all the women work.  They are hardly ever outside or even home.  So......how can I connect with others in order to befriend them?  There are two ways that I can do this.  First, my husband and I are going to head the neighborhood watch program on our block.   Second, I have  decided to connect with others through gardening.  Tomorrow I am going to a gardening workshop.  I also plan to sign up for the Master Composter class (an all day seminar in October) and if it works with my schedule I am going to take a Master Gardener class too!  What a fun way to connect with others, learn from them, shine for Jesus and have fun! :)

What are you doing to connect with others?  If this is an area that is difficult for you as it is for me?  Pray and ask God to show you ways.    Our families are important, our serving in church is important, but reaching our world is why we are here as well!  :)  Let's reach our world's for Jesus!  Let's not let anyone die without Him!   "For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whosoever believes in Him, will have everlasting life."  John 3:16

Happy July!

Hey you- wanted to let you know that I really enjoy reading your entries as they reveal your sweet heart, and the love of the Lord that is in you!

I am looking foward to when we can connect, and I do wish that we lived closer, as I know we would have some wonderful talks and times of worship together!

Who knows right? ; ) Maybe some day!

See you soon, glad you're enjoying your summer!

love,
Geri
