I like to set goals! I don't always obtain them! Even last year in my goal for simplicity, I had a few areas I didn't do so well in but in most I did! :) It helps me to have a focus! As I was thinking about goals this year, I thought of several things. What if this is the year that Jesus returns for His church? What would I want Him to find me doing? In what ways would I want to make a difference? What is really important in this life (not the things that I might make important). What has the Lord been showing me that I need to grow in? So, as I contemplated these questions, here are the goals that I set: THEME VERSE FOR 2009: Colossians 3:17 "And WHATEVER YOU DO, in word or deed, do EVERYTHING in the name of the Lord Jesus, GIVING THANKS to God the Father through Him." Questions to ask myself each day based on this verse: 1. Does this (what I am doing, saying, thinking, etc) bring glory to God? 2. Am I giving thanks to God? GOALS: Spiritual - Discover and Focus on the attributes of God. As I read the Bible, write down the attributes of God that I see. I will also finish reading the books: Attributes of God by A.W. Tozer that have started. Mentally - *Read everyday. I have tons of great books that I always want to read, but never make the time to. This year, I will make the time to read. *memorize scripture - beginning with Romans 12 Emotionally - Take time to rest when needed, by taking a hot bath, reading, playing a game, doing a craft, etc. Things to help me relax! :) Physically - Eat Healthy (things that my body needs) and Exercise on the treadmill, or when weather is nice take the dogs for a walk. Marriage - *Make my husband my #1 ministry *Pray and seek every day how I can be a helpmate to my husband that day. *submit - even when it doesn't make sense to me the way something is done. *be an encouragement to my husband. Homemaking - *Be creative in making our home a warm safe place first to my husband and dad, and then to all who enter. *Be creative in saving money without it appearing that I am being "too frugal." Bible Study Leader - *Be faithful in studying and prep time. Don't allow outside interruptions or too many commitments to keep me from spending quality time. *Be faithful in completing writing the Bible Study on "The Garden of you Heart" that I started. Witnessing - Be ready and willing to share the gospel with whomever I come in contact with. Knowing of so many unexpected deaths this year, what if that person (or myself) were to die soon! I know that I will be with Jesus, but so many others need to know of Him too! (Edited to add this) Lord, I commit these goals to you! I ask for strength to be faithful when I am tired! I ask that those times when I get discouraged from failure to these goals, that I will be reminded of your incredible love and grace. I ask that you guide me each day and that I will have ears to hear you. May my heart be soft towards you! Let me never be stuck in my own stubborness or demanding my way. May my life be wholly yours in the mundane things of life, and those wonderful things that sometimes you allow us to be part of. Let me do things not for my glory, but only for YOUR GLORY! In the precious name of Jesus (my Saviour). Amen! Leave a Comment { Last Page } { Page 37 of 178 } { Next Page } |
