This years harvest was not a real impressive one. It seems we just didnt' have the time to spend in the garden that we needed to. We got a few tomatoes, an eggplant and a bunch of sage.
This is just a small part of what I harvested off of two plants I planted in 2004. I had gone to the farm store in a little town not to far from us and the grocery store next door was having a sale on what plants were left in their parking lot greenhouse. Of course I went over to check it out and found a tired greenhouse worker watering some plants out front. I saw a rack on the side with a few herbs on it and asked her how much they were. She looked at me with no expression on her face and said " free.. FREE???..free". Sooo I took them all. They were a sorry looking bunch but I brought them home and put the lil things in the ground. Late that fall I harvested Dill, Lemon Thyme, Sorrel, Italian Parsley,Fennel,Rosemary,Sage and Majorum. I sent fresh herbs to my mom and sister still having a nice bunch of dried herbs for myself. The only ones to overwinter were the Sage, Lemon Thyme and the Sorrel. This year the Lemon Thyme dissapeared but the Sage and Sorrel are growing fine. As I was harvesting the sage and hanging the bunches to dry I had the urge to roast a turkey..hummmmm wonder if I can find a nice fresh one anywhere????
