Bees

Yesterday a bunch of honey bees took over our Oriole feeder. I waited till early this morning to take the feeder down and rinse it out thinking that would solve the problem. Well no....The bees were hungry, looking for nector and they were swarming all over the property. I decided to put out a shallow pan of surgar water to feed them, hopefully diverting them from the hummingbird feeder on the other side of the house and to make it safer to go outside. When I lived in Oregon I had a hive of wild honey bees in one of my apple trees and in early spring I would put out a pan of sugar water to keep them going till the wild cherry trees bloomed. We have never had any problem with honey bees before but earlier this summer the county came by with a huge mower on an arm and mowed down everything in the ditches. EVERYTHING ! Our ditches here are beautiful displays of native wild flowers..... Well they were. I'm thinking that since all of the wildflowers are gone, the bees have a lack of nector to put up for winter. I wonder how long I'll be feeding them....at least that is something I can do while limping

Here is a new pick of our newest granddaughter Madison. We will be visiting her in a couple of weeks

Congratulations on your beautiful new granddaughter! What a sweetie. I haven't had a "baby fix" in a long time! I've just been catching up a bit on your blog and can totally relate to your gimpy-ness, having stepped on a nail a week ago. The treatment was just as bad if not worse and I'm just able to bear weight on it again so I can empathize with your efforts to work while hobbling and dragging your limbs around. Hope and pray that you're feeling better. God's blessings to you! :)
