My children live far away so my wonderful husband makes sure Mother's Day is special for me. This year he took me plant shopping! That is a hit any time!!! In our area a lot of stores have hoop houses out in the parking lots full of all sorts of wonderful plants. Our area nurseries are stocked too. I'm not quite ready for my annuals but we found a bargin on perennials at a new lil nursery in the small town of Mitchell, Iowa. Mitchell is about 8 miles from home and we drive along the river to get there so not only do I get to shop plants but we get a beautiful drive to boot. We brought home a deep red/lt red Coleus,a salmon Gerainium, A Lupine(dont' know what color yet) a something I don't remember the name of (hahahah) a Columbine and a Supertunia hanging basket that is soooo beautiful. I shopped for roses but no one had a large selection yet and the prices were rather high( I thought). Our nurseries won't guarantee their roses so I ordered my roses from Jackson and Perkins in Medford Oregon. They guarantee their roses for one year! I'll post pics of the other stuff as it blooms but here are pics of the hanging basket.

Of course I have to add a pic of how beautiful it looks against the house too:):)

Love your pictures! And, funny you should mention Jackson & Perkins - that is where I have worked for the past 30 years - but am now retired and moving into the next adventure God has for me - and this is living near part of my grandchildren and being a part of their lives.

Aha! Now I know who to call about how to grow roses. My 3 children gave me 3 rose bushes for Mother's Day. ~SugarCreekFarm

Patti, I just love flowers, especially purple ones. How gracious of the Lord to plant me where I can live among the lilacs. We bought a home that already has numerous flowering bushes and perennials so I am truly enjoying this spring to the max! Flowers that you can plant in your garden are the best Mother\'s Day gift. I can\'t wait to see more of your photos!
