My flower bed makeover

So with my wonderfully dull and mundane day I decided to finally do a makeover on a flowerbed that really needed it.

This bed was full to overflowing with large green flowers that do eventually make pretty orange flowers. But left on thier own they tend to overtake everything. This flowerbed was like this when we moved in back in september and I am just now getting around to fixing it up. The flowers I put in it I really don't know much about, they were given to me by my mom and sister and there wasn't any directions as to what they needed(full sun, shade, partial ect.) so I just put them all in here.

These two pictures are the flowerbed before, nothing but big green plants.

Work in progress. Notice the new blocks layed out as an edging at the front of the bed.

still work in progress.

The finished product!  I moved out most of the original flowers, moved a single row to the back since they are taller, and added several different other flowers. Added the front edging, and top dressed it with the peanut hulls they used to put in the chicken houses last time we cleaned out completely. (these were leftover peanut hulls, I didn't take them from the chickens) LOL

And what, you ask, happened to the rest of the original flowers?

I saved them of course....some go to my mom and we are gonna transplant some into other flowerbeds we found overgrown in weeds and have started cleaning out. The new beds are a big ring of rocks around some trees and I don't mind if these flowers go crazy there and take over the whole thing. I like the wild and free look, just not at my front porch! LOL

Now I really got into this project, ended up with two blisters on the palm of my hand, a scrape across my wrist, ant bites on my hands and feet, dirt under my fingernails and all over my jean legs, and my feet....lets just say I like to go barefooted even when I am gardening........

They were acually worse than this, they got washed off a bit as I watered the flowers and washed off the sidewalk! LOL  Can you say countrygirl!?  LOL

Yes those are my feet, I have small feet, and stubby little toes. Oh well, my DH thinks thier cute! LOL

Thanks for visiting

OH Nancy, what is that between your toes? LOL LOL
Well girlfriend you look like you did a really good days work. Plant what you've pulled out and saved, anywhere you want. They will take, they are very hardy, almost too hardy. They will mulitiply and fill up any area. Good luck......go clean your feet..........Kitty
