Thursday, July 24, 2008 - Olivea's Room

Now that we have the boys' room about done it was time to move onto the princess's room. I will give you a photo tour of the progress.

Here are a couple before pictures. I know they are actually mid-demolition, but I didn't think of it until then. We (my dad and hubby) replaced the window with a larger, pretty white one.

This just shows more of the green and blue from how the room was before. I wish I had a cute picture to show how adorable the room was before for our baby boys. This also shows the new light that we put in. It was a beautiful white ceiling fan before, but Princess needed beads.

Here are the new colors. Light blue for the ceiling, creamy pink on the top, and sage green on the bottom. The molding has been installed now too. It still needs caulking and to be painted.

Here is the tape going up for our stripes we want in the room. We painted the walls satin, and the paint for the stripes was semi-gloss. It was supposed to be cute like textrue addition to the room.

Well, satin to semi-gloos isn't a big enough difference. Can you even see the stripes? So, I decided to add some white to the paint.

This is the lighter color I made in the middle of the original color. Perfect!

This is the end result. I love it!

Here are all the colors together. I had a bit of panic at all the colors. It looks a little like a cotton candy stand! But I decided I really love it. After 3 sons I wanted a beautiful feminine room, but without TOO much pink. I think we got it!

Now for the fabric!!

This is the fabric for the bedding.

This is the super adorable pink silk for the curtains.

Here is me set up with my tools, getting ready to put the quilt squares together.

This is the quilt all laid out on the counter.

Here is the quilt all sewn together. I didn't too bad of a job getting the corners lined up! Yay for me this time!

I need your opinion about which pattern to use for the bumper pads. I just can't decide. So, here are the 3 options. 1 is above, 2 is below, and 3 is the bottom.

Thursday, July 24, 2008 - Update on the Boys' Room

We are finally getting to the finishing touches in the boys' room. Just wanted to share 2 pictures of the space guys we have painted in there. The boys are just in love with how fun the room is! The art is from pictures the boys drew and we put up on the wall.

The astronaut is from my 7 year old, and the space shuttle was drawn by my 5 year old. He is the astronaut floating upside down inside.

The alien was also drawn by my 7 year old. His spaceship was done by my friend, and the planet in the corner was done by another friend. (she also painted the astronaut and the alien)

Thursday, July 3, 2008 - A Chore List-- not very exciting!

The normal place I would post my list is down and has been for 3 days now. I am thinking that maybe I should make my own blog of my regular morning routine. Thruth be told I haven't made it through this routine in years! Not since I was the mother of 1 little boy. Through some self digging this past week I realize as my other homemaker skills have increased steadily the housekeeper in me still struggles. Maybe it is time to make that top priority! 21 days to make a habit for normal women, but how many days was it for a "SHE"? 28? hmmm I could only hope. I have 45 days until the baby comes to do my routine, hopefully I can really make those 45 days count!!! Here goes my list, and prayers that a new me is coming.

RMR (Regular Morning Routine)

() up at 7:30

() shower and dress

()make my bed

() start a load in the washer

()()() Feed the boys breakfast (and myself)

() empty dishwasher and talk with them

() make a dinner plan; pull out meat to defrost

() clean up from breakfast; make sure kitchen is in order

() send boys to get dressed, brush teeth and hair, make beds, and pick up their room

Start my round of TMTs (two, ten, or sadly even 20 minute tidies):

()master bedroom

()master bathroom [quick wipe down]

()baby's room

()boys bathroom [quick wipe down]

() living room

() dining room

() boys room

When we start officially home schooling again in September this will be added:

()pack up snacks and baby supplies

() everyone into the home school room at 9

If just that got done everyday I would be in amazing shape! I am going to go start now. It is 9:30am now on my first day, and this routine might take me all day, but I am going for it. I am really going to try hard to do it in order too. OK off I go, say a pray with me!

Tuesday, June 24, 2008 - My 3 Sons' Room

We finally got the room about ready! It was a sweet little light blue room with clouds, and painted airplanes. They boys who have turned 5 and 7 were ready for bigger boy room. It is now ready to be the spaceship room! The youngest little brother was moved into this room too since our first girl will be arriving in a few weeks. I figured after 3 boys, I should be able to make the other room as pink as I want.

Here are the 3 beds. Gabe painted them white finally. We have had them for a few years, but we just never got around to painting them. We also replaced the old aluminum window with a newer bigger vinyl one. I had to put my drywall skills to the test again. (I am still not very good)

This is the new dresser the older boys are going to share. It is also a good view of the metal border we did. Very spaceship-like right?

I didn't make the blankets for the boys I just trimmed them and added the binding. It is so hard to make bunkbeds, so I thought this would help. They fit just over all the ends of the mattress, no need to tuck the blankets. This is a picture of the binding on all 3. (not my best talent either)

I wanted the little man to have his own matching sheets, but you can't find a flat sheet in crib size. So, I made him a set. I bought a Ralph Lauren King size 350 thread count flat sheet at TJMaxx for $16. I used it to make the flat, fitted, and pillow case. Turned out ok.

I made a blanket for him too out of the remnants from the other boys blankets. It looks great from the top, but the under side is a bit funky. Good thing he isn't even 2, and doesn't really care. At least he matches the big boys.

That is what we have gotten done so far. It has taken 2 weekends, and all the days in between to get to this point! We still need to hang shelves, curtain rods, and that sort of thing. The grand finale will be when we paint their art on the wall. They have drawn spacemen, ships, and aliens for the room. We are going to use a projector to get them on the wall, then we will paint them in. I will paint more pictures when we get to that point. Between the sewing of the sheets, blankets, and my sisters diaper bag I have let the house slack. Time to get a few regular chores done before we move onto more decorating. Only 7 weeks and 6 days until the little girl arrives, so we better keep moving!!

Tuesday, June 24, 2008 - Julie's Diaper Bag

I have been so busy the past two weeks rededorating my sons' room, but I took a break to get this diaper bag sewn for my older sister. Her baby will be here in only a few more days! My younger sister came from Sou Cal to help me get some things done since our baby should arrive in just 8 weeks. I am excited to show some pictures of what I (with my friend's colaboration) created!

Here is a picture of the whole bag all finished!

This is the inside lining with the pockets that we figured out how to put elastic in. Finally, we try a new trick!

Here is the inside of the pockets with the alternating pink material, so cute.

This is the diaper holder. Then, they all stay together and they don't get squished up in the bag. So very innovative!

This is the changing pad and cosmetic bag for all of mom's needs.

Here are the cute burp cloths to match the bag. Gotta be matchy-matchy!

I guess I am out of space for more pictures in this blog. I hope you enjoyed my first blog with actual pictures. It is fun to be able to share!

Wednesday, May 28, 2008 - My First Blog

I saw someone else have a cute blog on here about daily comings and goings, and cute things she made. I am excited to do it. I am curious how easily I can add pictures to this blog. We shall see. Ok I will try that again later. I need to resize before I upload them.
