Hungry Girl!!

For those of you who have not heard of Hungry Girl, you have to check out her website.  You can find it at www.hungry-girl.com  She has lots of posts on how you can eat your favorite meals for less calories.

Lisa Lillien is the hungry girl and although she is not a nutriontists of a doctor of any kind.  She just exclaims she is a hungry girl, and jokes about being a lover of food or a foodologists.  She often tells you whatt he calories and fat intake are on a popular snack food and then tells you how you can have the same snack with much fewer calories and also how much exercise you would have to do to work off those calories.  (You will have to walk 5 miles, do 100 sit up and 5 jumping jacks tow ork off this high calorie treat, or sit at your desk for 15 hours).

I love her sense of humor and the way she gets straight to the point of it all.  Recently as I was shopping for a few last minute items before leaving for our mini vacation (milk for Noah!), I saw she now has a book out!!  I was so excited and bought it on the spot (didn't look inside, didn't look at the price, just bought it. LOL  Later when I got home, I saw the price was $17.95 with 20% off from the book company) and even ended up taking with me on vacation to read some on it.

The verdict??? I love this book.  She has tons of recipes in it and some hints on eating out at your favorite resturant or eating while at work as well.  The titles to her recipes are very cheeky and I love that as well.  Let me share a few with you from the back cover of her book: Eggs Bene-Chick (183 calories), Bring on the Breakfast Pizza (127 calories), Dreamy Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge (65 calories), Lord of the Onion Rings (153 calories), and the list goes on.

This week, I am studying the book and making lots of notes.  This weekend I will be making out my grocery list (yes we have tons of groceries, but I need just a few things to start in on the healthier eating) and will get started next week.  This week however, since the weather is nicer (warmer and not raining all the time), I plan on starting my exercise routine which will consist of 10-15 minutes of strength training (small hand weights), and walking with Noah in the stroller.  If it does rain, I will be walking inside to my Leslie Sansone walking DVD.  (NO EXCUSES THIS TIME)

I am bound and determined to get healthy this year.  Yes that means loosing some weight, but it also means eating healthier so I feel better, and gaining more strength and lifting my moods and self esteem as well.  It is time to take care of me.  Anyone else out there feel like this??? I take care of everyone else, but I obviously don't take good enough care of myself.

Anyone else out there have any plans on getting to a healthier you??

How big is that piece of fudge for 65 calories? I say we eat 500 calories worth, then you can help me hoe the garden, then we can walk the dogs and Noah down at the park. It's my "break even" plan. :-D
