The weekend for us, started on Friday afternoon when my good friend Jen (who Noah is being trained to call Aunt Jen-Jen) came by ready and willing to take on the roll of caregiver for the entire weekend for us. Matthew was on crutches this weekend trying to get the ankle to heal (after falling off a two foot ladder and twisting it. It was the prettiest shade of dark purple for days! LOL) and not putting alot of weight on it, so I ended up taking the car for a oil change and packing the car earlier in the day and running all those last minute errands that seem to creep up on you when planning a road trip.
When we let Noah caught on that we were leaving him with Jen and he started to cry and lept into my arms and I gave him a hug. I told him we would be back soon and he then pushed me out the door while crying. LOL He is only 2 years old, but he understood I was going to leave and pushed me out the door as if to say, fine the faster you leave the sooner you will be coming home to me. LOL
We had plans to stay in the city Friday and Saturday nights and returning Sunday afternoon. We didn't make any reservations for hotels, but when we got to the city, we walked into the Hyatt by the airport and was told they had no rooms. We were just about to walk out when the manager said, hold on, I think we have a handicapped room for you. (We aren't handicapped, but with Matthew being on crutches it was so nice to have the extra space and the shower chair in the bathroom for his showering needs) and they hooked us up for a King size Handicapped room. It was gorgeous I tell you, and Matthew was impressed with the 36 inch wide flat screen tv that we could watch from bed or from the attached little living room area. They quoted us a $99.00 a night rate, but the pricing on the door said $299.00!!! All rooms were non smoking (how wonderful!!!) and the staff there was wonderful.
We took it easy most of the weekend and didn't do all the shopping and walking around we would have normally done, since Matthew was on crutches, but it sure was nice to get away, leave Noah in capable hands and be together and bond together more.
We took some movies with us and were able to watch a few movies either in the hotel or at the movie theater (what else can you do when hubby is on crutches. By the end of the weekend, he said his armpits were feeling raw after all the walking on them.) but I did do a little shopping for some much needed things (namely my favorite bras that I can only buy in the city at a specific store. I will skimp on other things, but not my bras! LOL) and was able to find some pants and jeans for my picky hubby too. He won't buy any type of clothing online because he wants to inspeact the pockets!! LOL It sound funny doesn't it??? He needs the pockets to be made of very sturdy cloth because he carries so much junk (ok things for work, a ring of keys, wrenches, etc.) in them on a daily basis.
I looked at several stores for a pantsuit of some kind to wear to my neices wedding in June, but didn't find a thing that I liked enough to buy it, and often times, I loved it, but it was out of my size. (Isn't that how it always is! LOL)
The weekend was a huge success and although I checked on Noah and Jen many times throughout the weekend, I missed Noah terribly!!!! When we came home, Noah squealed with glee as I walked across the yard while he was peaking at me from the dining room window. He just hugged and hugged on me!!! And when Matthew walked in and knealed down, Noah practically attacked him running into his arms. It was a wonderful home coming!!!
Noah usually gets a little upset when Jen leaves and waves at her and blows her kisses when she leaves the house. But Sunday after we arrived home, he didn't. LOL Jen was laughing about how he was acting as she left. He waved and crawled up on daddy's lap. You could tell by the way he was acting he was thinking, I got my daddy now, who needs you anymore. LOL It was so funny and Jen of course didn't take it personally.
So, we did survive our many days together, and came home refreshed!!!!
I hope everyone else had a wonderful weekend! |
