I am an insomniac. I can't seem to sleep lately, so I have been taking Tylenol PM to make me drowsey at night. Sometimes it kicks in within 30 minutes, and other times, it takes alot longer!!! I couldnt' get to sleep until after midnight last night. It is miserable to just lay there and flip and flop and not be able to just sleep!
So, I was sleeping in a little late this morning when the phone rang, and Noah was still in his bed as well (singing to himself....so cute!!) On the phone was my adopted sister Sarah. (The one who lived with us last summer for a little over a month before her college classes started.) She has been battling what she thought was a cold or allergies for over 3 weeks. Last night, she got 2 hours of sleep because she was up sick, and by this morning, it had all settled on her lungs and she could barely breath. Have you ever had one of those colds where you could barely breath, but because your body aches, and your ribs and muscles are tender, it hurts to breath every time??? That would describe Sarah today.
Sarah doesn't get this sick often, and since she is a graduating college student with only a part time job, she never thinks she can afford a doctor or meds. I ended up taking her to the Clinic in a nearby town and they immediately gave her a breathing treatment. She is so scared of doctors and shots, but the doctor and I explained how much better she would feel after getting the steroid shot. She took it while I was holding her hand. By the time we walked out of the office, she was breathing better and the color was back in her cheeks!
And the nurse practioner we saw was so sweet with Sarah and her fears of the cost. Nancy (the NP), said she would waive the new customer fee, and that the breathing treatment was going to be free, since they were able to use sample meds in it that they had on hand. She explained the steroid shot was $24.00, but she could make payments on it when she was feeling better. She called in the prescription for an antibiotic to Hy-Vee Pharmacy who now has a special on most generic prescriptions, so the script only cost $4.00! Sarah was impressed with how nice the NP and the other nurses were with her and shocked that the shot only hurt for a second or two. And for all that to only cost her $28.00 was such a blessing for her. I picked up her meds for her and got her some sprite and chicken soup and took her back to her sister's apartment. I plan on calling her soon and checking up on her, but I am afraid to wake her up!
That's about all I have done today! LOL By the time I came back home and picked up Noah (I have a friend Carrie who said she could watch little Noah while I was taking care of Sarah and he had a blast playing with her two children who are under 5.), I was starving and realized I had not eaten breakfast. Carrie said Noah was very picky and wouldn't eat for her very well, so I picked up something for both of us, and we came home to eat. He is finally napping now. He fought it hard today. LOL He wanted to stay up and play so badly, but finally collapsed about 10 minutes after putting him to bed.
I plan on getting some more of the zucchini and summer squash in the freezer today, fixing supper, dusting and vacuuming and getting the laundry caught up before the end of the day. I need to get laundry caught up before we leave town on Friday afternoon for our anniversary weekend. Jen will be here watching Noah until Sunday afternoon, and if Sarah gets to feeling better by Friday, she is going to come over and keep Jen adn Noah company since her room mates (her sister and brother in law), will be out of town all weekend.
