Matthew and I will be celebrating our anniversary this week (the 21st), and celebrating again by leaving town Friday to got to Kansas City for the weekend. I am super excited about it, because we are leaving Noah with my friend Jen and will have some much needed time alone.
I am stealing this idea from my dear Monica at Books, Bedlam and a Lively Hope. She just celebrated her first anniversary and posted a blog about her wedding day. So here is goes, if you want to know!
1. Our wedding was not in a church but instead an outdoor wedding on my parent's 3 tiered deck.
2. We had strawberry cheesecake instead of traditional wedding cake.
3. My maid of honor, was my best friend of 20 some odd years (I lost count, how many is it Marcia?? LOL)
4. Our pastor (who is the associate pastor at our church), wore pink! LOL He is one of those who can get away with it though. He wore a pink dress shirt and khakis.
5. I didn't even wear a dress! LOL I wore white capris and a top and the peach roses that I carried clashed with it (the shirt was peach until they were up next to the shirt, then it looked coral all of a sudden! LOL)
6. We dug into the best BBQ (cooked by my mom) directly following the wedding and ate on the deck.
7. It was a little breezy that day and time for the cotton wood trees hanging over the deck to shed, so it looked like it had snowed all over the deck. LOL Everyone was picking cotton from their clothes and hair.
8. Matthew's neice was singing during the prayer. She was only 3 1/2 then.
9. We spent our honeymoon in one of the only hotels we could find with an indoor pool. (Because in May most are being cleaned up, remodeled, or not open because it is not hot enoughg yet)
10. We borrowed my fathers car, and it broke down on us in the city. (The fuel pump or water pump or something.) It happened on the freeway, so we coasted onto an offramp and into a Best Buy parking lot. I was worried, but Matthew was excited it was in a Best Buy parking lot and wanted to go inside and buy a new computer game! LOL We called a friend with some tools and his friend paid for the pump as our wedding present to us! LOL Then we ate at a Mexican resturant in the same parking lot while waiting on the tools. A parts store was in the same parking lot and we walked to the store where they thankfully had the part in stock.
All in all, it was a good trip and here we are, almost 3 years later happily married. I feel like I have married my best friend, and although we have been through alot in the last 3 years, it has brought us closer and closer to each other and to our heavenly father! I love this man of mine and I find out more and more reasons why, with each passing day! Here is a bonus fact about our wedding day for you. Matthew suprised me by having the song, I thank god for you playing as I was walking down the "aisle" on my father's arm. (The song tells about how God made that person especially with you in mind. It is an amazing song!)
Well all, I am off to get a few things done around the house now. |
