Plumbing Problems Update

My plumber (a dear friend of the family too) wass supposed to b e here at 8 am.  Well after showing up almost 2 hours late (isn't that the way they all are.....TV repair men, plumbers, etc.), he looked and the problem and said no proble,.  It was exactly what he thought it was when we spoke to him over the phone and what we were praying for the probably to be because it was a quick, easy, and affordable fix.  He cleaned out the main from outside and then came in to check on it inside several times and about 30-45 minutes later was cleaning up his tools and getting ready to pack up and leave.  He charges only $70.00 for all this and I am so appreciative and grateful.  When I told him how appreciative I was and told him I intended to give him more because he is worth it, he said now you don't have to do that.  I am just glad you appreciate it because some people don't!  Can you imagine???

So, the water is gone from the basement.  It drained right out as soon as the line was cleared.  And our plumber friend told Matthew that the extremely slow drain in the upstairs tub could probably be fixed with some plunging with a plunger!  What as easy fix!!!  Matthew fixed it this weekend.  The water used to sit in the tub after a bath and take hours to drain.  After three plunges on the drain, it drained beautifully.  Now most plumbers wouldn't want to tell you the tricks of their trade, and would do it themselves and charge you extra for it!!!

I plugged in an air freshner in the backporch (connects to the basement where the water stood for a day ro two....I know....YUCKO huh??) I will get out the baking soda and put a few boxes down there as well and it should dry up and be normal soon.  YIPPPEE!!!

Also, the plumber told us we had a great sewer (this was our fear, old house, old nasty sewer needing to be installed, costing $2000.00).  He said we could live here another 100 years and never have a problem with the sewer.  He thought we might have problems ever once in a while with roots growing into the main like they did this time, but it can be easily fixed and is an old rock basement that we don't normally use for strage unless it is on cinder blocks anyway.

Thanks for listening. LOL

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.

that is great news on the sewer! they had to replace ours before we bought this place and it cost over $6000 for the septic because of snags they ran into along the way...

Praise God it was not on us..it would have done us in for sure!

Yay! I'm so glad it was an easy fix. What are the chances of it happening again? Hopefully this will not be a recurring problem. By the way, our appliance repairman was supposed to be here between 8 and 12 this morning. At 6:40 a.m. the phone rang and it was him calling to say he'd be over in twenty minutes! Now what do you do with a repairman who is too early?

Glad everything is working out your sewer problem! That's NOT a thing you want screwed up for long! Ha!

Thanks for stopping by my blog. It's always nice to see that you have visited. I hope you are encouraged by what you are finding out about homeschooling and I'm VERY encouraged that you are looking into it now, instead of just before you need to make your decision. Very wise of you. Of course, having homeschooled for 15 years, my wish is that everyone who starts goes all the way through (it's easier when you start at the beginning)...but...whether you only homeschool for a couple of years or do go all the way through to graduation, you will NEVER regret it. You will cherish the time spent w/your children (I'm talking in faith! lol), the relationship you have will grow and grow. And there's NOTHING like watching that light come on in their eyes when they catch on to something new! Priceless. I child who is in a public or private school spends OVER 24,000 hours in school - NOT including bus rides - that time can never be reclaimed.

If you ever have any questions, I'd be happy to answer any that I can.

Blessings from Ohio, Kim Wolf<><
