For several years I have hired a friend of mine to do my taxes. I don't know the first thing about them, and it helped us both out. This year I knew taxes would be difficult so I of course asked for her help again. (She works for a CPA and is trained to do this)
Since my mom and dad's death, we have recieved money from the estate sale, the sale of the house, and some other money coming in from some commmissions my father earned, social security, etc. We were told when this started to save some money because we might end up paying taxes this year instead of getting a refund. (OUCH HUH???? I have never had to pay in, so this panicked me a little)
Kathleen, our tax lady called though and told me we are getting money back this year even with all the difficulties and all. So with the money, Matthew and I will be able to get my car fixed (it needs alighned and a few other simple things done), get the plumbing in the basement fixed (an old cast iron pipe broke, we will have to replace it with updated pipe), the pipes in the upstairs bathroom cleaned out (old pipes, what can I say?? LOL), and possibly a few other things on the house updated and taken care of, such as a new storm door on the front of the house, some paint, etc. It is only $700.00 and won't go very far, but we are so thankful for any amount rather than paying in!!!
So what are some of the rest of you talking about doing with your small, medium, or large tax return???
God's Blessings,
