What Does a Woman of God Look Like PART 2

I want to first of all start by saying thank you to all who left a comment on my last two blogs and the private messages I received about this topic as well.  I understand it is is hot topic to some, but I honestly don't understand the reasoning why.  I don't understand why people in HSB as well as in the world (however some of you ladies here are bolder than any person I have seen in public to tell me what I am wearing is sinful!) feel the need to put others down to make themselves look better.  My goodness, we all did this in elementary school, and maybe even in middle school, but most of us outgrew that stage in our life.  I love everyone!!!  Now some I must say grate my nerves for their Holier Than Thou attitudes and lifestyle but I still love them.  I don't have to LIKE someone to LOVE them.  LOL  (My mother in law taught me that.  She told me she liked me once and I said um, ok.  She went on to tell me she loved me because I was part of the family now after marrying her son.  But she truly genuine liked me as well.  LOL  What a compliment! LOL)

So the last post was not to tell you I wear a bikini (maa's mom made a comment about this), because even if I had a true size 6 body, I would choose NOT to show my body off in such a way.  I had a decent body in highschool (size 9 and curvy), but my mother would have never let me buy one, I have never wore one (I think I did when I was 3 and mom didn't know any better at the time), and I choose not to for spiritual reasons.  You see there is a difference between my spiritual reasons (God and I talk all the time and he gives me the answers I need.) and your Biblical reasons (because the book says so , do it.  But that was old testament and we were delivered from the law.) You wear skirts because it is GODLY????  Then I suppose in your sight I am ungodly.  But you know what???? I DON"T CARE what you think of me.  Don't you understand??? You are not the one I will be answering to when I hit the pearly gates.  You are not my judge or my God or my personal dresser.  Nothing you say about what I dress in, where I eat, what I eat, whether I homeschool my children or not means a thing to me, because you are merely human and yes all of us make mistakes.

As I said before and many agree with me, wearing skirts or not is a PERSONAL conviction.  Grinding your own wheat is a personal conviction.  Wearing homemade mensrual pads is a personal conviction.  Maa's mom asks why I even brought up the subject of pads and such.  Because I can??? LOL  I had never heard of such a thing (not being judgmental to those of you who do use them) until blogging here.  When I first came here I thought grinding your own wheat was going a little far.  Now I am wondering if I shouldn't do it myself. (personal conviction), but so far, I have not been lead my God to use fabric pads and excuse me but I take every precaution I can to keep the smell down.  Why would you even make such a comment that people who don't use them smell????  How judgmental!

No, I am not into taking you on for a debate Maa's Mom.  In fact as I said before I don't care what you think of my lifestyle and I have heard and seen all that the Bible has to say on these topics.  I would suggest some of you gals out there read what gokings posted today on just this subject and some of her notes she included.  Wow!  What a great post!!!

So, the question is, can a girl wear pants and be a woman of God?? YES  It is what is in her heart that God wants to see, not the blue jeans, mini skirts or bikinis.  I don't agree with girls who wear such shorty short clothing, but I am not one to tell them they shouldn't.  That is their conviction with the Lord.

Can a woman who braids her hair be a woman of God??? Yes.  Can a woman who cuts her hair be a Woman of God?  Yes!

You see what I am trying to bring to your attention dear ladies is that we are not to look at someone's outter covering or their habits or attitude and determine whether they are Godly or not.  We are not to judge a book by its cover and honestly it is not any of our business to tell someone such things.

Our wedding was a small one to say the least.  We had money for a larger one, but decided to use that money to start out our life instead of putting on some big show.  The best man at our wedding is a mean looking guy named Dan.  Dan is an ex motorcyclist, druggie and used to drink and beat his women.  He wasn't  a nice or a clena cut guy by any means.  God changed him and he is the nicest teddy bear of a man now.  But his appearance didn't change that much.  He still wears only blue jeans and a motorcycle tshirt is dressing up for him.  He still wears motorcycle books and bears all kinds of tatooos.  Why wouldn't God change him into a clena cut man, without the whiskers and long hair, laser his tatoos and start wearing "normal" clothing you ask???  Because his old biker b uddies wouldn't have listened to a word he said.  He still witnesses to bikers when he has the opportunity and his story is an amazing one.  He is a deciple of God and a man of God, but he looks alot like the world.

Jesus looked like everyone else when he came to earth as well.  He wasn't clean shaven and in a suit.  You don't have to look like the hairgel crowd as my best friend Marcia calls them that go to church at my church to be a Christian and love God.  You don't have to change your hair, your cothing, or the food you eat.  You DO HAVE TO CHANAGE YOUR HEART!!!

So telling me what the BIble says about wearing dresses, etc. won't really help me Maa's mom, but that you for offering.  I am a woman of God whether you or the rest of the world think it or not.  I have a friendship with my God and he loves me just the way I am.  He loves me when I falter and turn away, when I rebel and when I come running back to him with open arms.

Please do not send your nasty personal messages to me about this post, and please do not send me Bible scripture backing you up on your personal beliefs of clothing.  My God loves the skirtless, and I still don't think he is going to meet me at the gates and say, Why my child?? Why did you grieve me so by WEARING JEANS!!!!!

This is my disclaimer.  I don't care if you wear dresses ladies.  Please do!  If God has convicted you to do so, you would be sinning to disobey Him.  My only concern are the ladies who think they are right and only they are right and the rest of us are wrong because we don't fall into their mold of what they believe a Christian should look like.  Thank goodness our heavenly Father isn't that way.  I am proud to be a Child of God.

Can you imagine if God was like some of these Holier Than Thou ladies and men out there who think if you don't fall into their category of what a Christian looks like then you aren't one??? Or those who think by wearing a pair of jeans we are displeasing God?  How about those who don't believe in music in the church or who think clapping and raising your hands is a sin.

I am not trying to start a debate.  I am not picking on any one person.  I am not mad at any one person or group of persons.  I am just as others have in the past, stating my thoughts on the subject.   We are all wonderfully different  and all of us were made by God.  We are special, no matter what you think.  The heart is the clue to salvation, not your long hair or long dresses.

And that's all I have to say about that! LOL

God's Blessings,

Amy Jo

"But you know what???? I DON"T CARE what you think of me. "

"I don't care what you think of my lifestyle "

Your post sounds like you do care. Just an observation.

Hi Amy Jo,
You seem to be upset. Why? If you are okay with God, then ignore those who judge you. It is between you, God and any brother who may stumble due to your actions.
If a man is rough looking, to you or others, it will not cause another to stumble. So how is it wrong to be rough looking? It is important to wear things that are modest, so that another will not stumble. We are our brothers keeper and we are to encourage one another on. You have been dicouraged and upset. You say that some think they are hollier than thou, that is judging. For the ones that are appearing to be hollier than thou, I think that is their goal to be holy, not better, just holy.Honoring God. If you think I have judged you, I am sorry. So others will know, I did not send a pm to Amy Jo,especially a nasty one. I am not nasty to anyone. It looked like that was what you were saying in this post. You mentioned my name in your post as if I am the one who you are offended by.
I am not concerned with what you look like. You did a post asking many questions, I tried to help you with some answers and you lash out. Were you wanting answers or writting in sarcasim??It is hard to tell the difference, but when you ask questions many will respond. So why ask the questions if you all ready know the answers and "don't care" what another has to say?

As for judging someone smelling, some things are a fact. It is a fact that the chemicals used to make disposable pads interact with the womans flow causing an unpleasant oder. I call an unpleasant oder a smell. If I you are being honest with me then you will admit that the pads do smell. The flow is not what smells it is the chemicals reaction. I was making a true statment not judging, knowing. If you are using a pad that does not cause any oder, then many women would like to know about it, I am sure. With cloth pads there is no smell, if a woman bathes every day.
Yes, you can mention what you want to on your blog. That is a hurtful response and not even an answere,it is sarcasim. You say that you love us, but you want to say hurtful things. I have never been hurtful to you, but I know you "don't care."Do you care that you hurt fellings?
Will you be like others and just delete this comment and tell yourself that you "don't care." Do you know me or how I dress or who I am. Do you know that Jesus himself could be one of the people that you are saying "I don't care" to? We never know what form Jesus will come back in. He may come back as a rough looking man, like your friend.
I think you are confusing what some are saying to you about dress. If you think that I am hollier than thou, I would like to know why you have made that judgement of me.
God loves all of his children no matter what they do. A drunken, killing, hatefull, devil loving man, is still loved by God. God will always love you no matter what you do say or wear. Will he pleased with you? That is between you and God.
Not wanting scripture, it sad to me. How could anyone not want scriopture? It is God's word.
There are many women who live by the Old Testament laws. The Bibles tells us in the New Testament that their faith is week, thy do not know that Jesus nailed the law tio the cross. We do not have to follow the traditions of the past. We do have to do all things in modestly. We do have to care about our bothers. You have told us that you "don't care" that is something that you might want to correct. It is your choice though and no one can force it on you, however it is a requirement if you are a Christian. Are you a Christian? I am:)
maa's mom
PS. Will you Please tell me how you think I am hollier than thou? That comment made me laugh:)

Hello Amy Jo,

I am so sorry if some people have judged you for what you wear or what you eat.

I know that everyone has there own opinions about what the Bible says, but here is what I know. The Bible does say that we are to be modest in our dress. Many women find that the best way for them to be modest in to wear skirts.

If you are wearing modest blue jeans, in my opinion....you don't have anything to worry about. If your jeans do not cause a man to lust....then I would think that there isn't anything wrong with your jeans.

For me, wearing skirts makes it easier to modest dressed, because men do not wear skirts in America. The Bible does say not to wear men's clothing. For some women, they beleive that wearing a jeans is dressing in men's clothing.

I try to imagine myself walking down the road, a car can see me from a distant, could the person in the car tell if I was a man or a woman by the way I was dressed?

When I am getting dressed for the day, I try to make myself as feminine as possible. I certainly do not want to be mistaken for a man.

If I wear a pair of blue jeans, they are very modest, not tight fitting or manly, I always wear my hair in a modest, very feminine fashion, I try to wear wear a feminine blouse, and a feminine pair of shoes. I dress like a woman, not like a man.

Here lately I have been wearing a lot of skirts, I like to make skirts, and I find many nice skirts at second hand stores.

I have not found a verse in the Bible that tells me that I have to wear skirts and only skirts, but I have found that it is so much easier to dress modestly in a dress or a skirt than in a tight pair of blue jeans.

About the cloth menstrual pads, if you are uneducated about something, it may seem weird or strange. I at first thought the cloth pads were something I would never do. I was uneducated about the use of them. I tried them and I love them. They are much more comfortable than the store boughten pads, I do not strees and dred that time of month, and I don't worry about leaks or odors.

Many women have gone back to the traditional cloth for medical reasons, the chemicals from the plastic and paper is harmful to a body. It has been causing yeast infections for some women.

The generation of mensturating women of today do not relize that there very own family members of the past used cloth pads.

The new and improved ways are not always better, as in the case of disposable pads.

If you are interested in trying the cloth pads I can send you a free sample, just let me know.

If you would like to see some pictures of the pads, go to my store- http://www.homesteaderbelle.blogspot.com/

I have many prints you can choose from, I would be happy to send you some photos of the prints you can choose from.

I will also send washing instructions too.

They are comfortable, no harmful chemicals against the body, and you can make them thick or as thin as needed.

I make them in all lengths! Let me know!

That is a very good post and I just wanted to put in my 1 cents worth..sorry don't have 2 lol. I live in Florida and it's hot. In fact while most people were getting snow yesterday it was 85 degrees here. So here it goes....."Hi, I'm Kim and I wear shorts...." When I leave my house my first thought is...is what I'm wearing going to cause another man to stumble. That's all it takes. I believe you can wear jeans, modest length shorts and so on and still retain modesty. I bought some skirts after reading others posts and really tried to wear them but, I guess it's the tom boy in me. I like to run around the front yard and play soccer and do kart wheels with my kids and play in the sand box. It just wasn't practical for me. I love the Lord and I do dress modestly. I ask my husband who I answer to as his help meet if what I am wearing would cause others to stumble. He is good about letting me know. So without getting in a debate I'll leave it at that.
Blessings to you all,
Kim
