YIPEEE!! Yeah right, I know most of you could care less about football and who wins! LOL I grew up not caring much about it either until my teenage years when I realized my mother loved it (she was a cheerleader) and my dad could care less. It was hilarious to listen to my mom screaming and yelling at the players on tv to listen to her and at the same time watch my dad roll his eyes. We live near Kansas City Missouri, so the Chiefs are the team to root for. Mom would cheer them on as dad would tease her by cheering on the opponents. LOL
Last year, dad died in October. So when Super Bowl came around, we all went to mom's to watch it on her bigger tv. I fixed the meal and we all had fun teasing mom about who would win or not. We knew she wasn't feeling well that day, and for some reason, her legs were starting to go numb. Within a few days she was in the hospital, in the nursing home, back the the hospital, on life support, in intensive care, and she went to be with the Lord on March 7th of last year. Matthew asked me this year if we could please watch the Super Bowl, or at least have it playing in the background in memory of Rere (the grandkids nickname for my mom. Other's call their grandma's nana, but with our family it was Rere! LOL) So of course I said we could. I don't really care about the game or who wins (go Patriots) but it will in memory of mom and the good times we had with her and the football games of the past.
We have invited a friend over to spend some time with us as well (she sounded like she was bored out of her guord the other day when I spoke to her), so she is going to join us and cheer for the Patriots with me. I am making soup, hot rolls (for lunchmeat sandwiches) little smokies, and something sweet, but not sure what yet.
I hope you all have a blessed Sunday with friends and family today.
God's Blessings,
