Matthew signed onto our online banking this morning to get a BIG suprise, and not a good one might I add. The suprise was a posting of $1707.00 in post from an online gaming system. It was all done in $1.00 increments. This was done on our secondary account we keep for such online purchases.
Let me back up a little and tell you why this was done. Matthew was signing up for a 14 trial period for a game online. He does this every so often and then cancels it out after the 12th day so we get no charge. They require a credit card in case you decide you want to play the game after the 14th day, and to also verify you are over 18 years of age. For the verification, they charge a one time $1.00 fee. Obviously their website was having a glitch that day, because instead of charging this fee once, we were charged many more times. It was on a debit card, and out bank saw the charges going through on Saturday and stopped any further transactions on the card awaiting to speak to Matthew on the phone or in person. (Which is why our debit card was turned down for the movies on Saturday. We had no idea what was going on)
So, as Matthew talks to the back this morning, they say, there is really nothing they can do about it unless we want to try to disprove the charges, which costs $26.00 for each transaction made that we would like to dispute!!! (By the way that comes up to over $45,000 in charges) So Matthew and I both spent alot of time on the computer trying to find a phone number, and on the phone trying to get through the autmoated telephone maze to speak to a human being, who knew what they were talking about to fix it. Needless to say we are somewhat upset, because if these transactions clear the bank, they will bounce like a rubber check, and then we will be charged $26.00 for each one that bounces. Can you imagine this????
Finally at almost 5:00pm Central Time, I got ahold of a guy who knew of the situation, and said it should have been fixed within 24 hours, but since it happened over a weekend and there was a holiday Monday, it hasn't been yet. He said the transactions were NOT cleared, and they would not authorize them to clear our bank because they were aware of the problem, but it would take a few days for this to be taken care of. He said for 48 hours, it will show on our screen as a transaction waiting to be posted, but will never post or be taken out of our account, for even one second. So I am hoping and praying he is correct and not just trying to get off the phone with me.
Needless to say we told the bank no more charges from this company should be posted for any reason and they have flagged our account just in case!!!
I tried not to be worried about this today because Matthew said he would handle it, but with his busy schedule and the automated telephone maze you had to take, he didn't get much done on it, so by 4:30pm I was panicking and trying to talk to anyone I could at the company. So I am leaving it up to God now. I have done all I can, and we will continue to keep an eye on the banking online and see what happens. We are praying that the right thing gets done or I am ready to call a lawyer and the Better Business Bureau.
God's Blessings,

Then if you call a lawyer that will be another fee.
I hope things get fixed.
