The house is ours....again!!!

In my last post I told all of you that our long term house guest has moved out.  (Praise God)  After seeing some posts of friends, talking to hubby and a few close friends, I have realized I did ALOT of things wrong while she was here.  Of course I cannot change them now, but I caqn learn from them and handle the situation better next time.

As SaraJeen so gracefully put it (LOL), I should have confronted her that her behaviour was unacceptable and not let her make me feel uncomfortable in my own house.  As I was talking to Judy last night, she was expressing the same thing.  Problem with this......my DH.  He is an understanding guy and didn't want me to "make a scene" or "cause a riff" in the household.  So in the end, I didn't say much of anything.  After her outbursts on Thursday, he said if we can bite our tongues for another day or two, she will be gone!  All I can say is after some bold friends telling me I should have been more bold about things, I will do that next time.

It sounds kinda mean, but we have been open with her telling her that she will NOT be coming home (our house) each adn every weekend.  This is her senior year here and she needs to develop some more friends and DH and I need the peace and quiet for once.  I didn't recognize it until she started to leave but she brings a heavy darkness about her.  Does that make any sense?? She is a troubled, depressed young girl and I feel for her having dealt with depression myself, but she LIVES in this pit all the time and so if anyone says anything to her, the words go through a negative filter and then to her brain.  I don't think I can take this much longer.  As soon as she left, it was like the negativity blanket was lifted from our house.  DH and I have been stressed, and big and little fights have been often around here since she moved in, but as soon as she left......it was like angels came down from heaven and you could hear the heavenly choir.  LOL  I am thankful we were able to help her when we could, but knowing what I know now, we won't do this again for a while!!!

Anyway, did a load of laundry last night, will do another today and we should be caught up.  I have a few dished to do to get caught up on dishes and since tonight is Bible Study night (and I have lost my menu planner for the week....argggg!), I need to think of something quick and easy to fix for supper.  Possibly sweet and sour meatballs since they are SOOOO easy (mix them up, pour sauce over and bake....no browinging of the meatballs ahead of time.....I love those kind of dishes) and plus they are our family's favorite dish!!  I don't have my recipe notebook near me, but I will try to post the recipe soon!  YUM!

DH and I had a talk last night about home repairs, and my "wishes" on the home repairs. LOL  OK, so the house is pretty sound, and no real repairs need to be made, but I want to patch the walls in the upstairs bedroom and paint so we can move Noah's crib up there.  Then DH and I will take the bedroom across the hall.  There is also a bathroom up there as well which should be handy.  I have wanted to do this since we moved into the house a year or more ago and DH has started and well....he is a hard working man and "forgets" about his projects, puts them off, and needs a prodding to get them done sometimes.  As much as I love this man, it is funny how we babysit our men sometimes isn't it ladies?? LOL

The other project is our kitchen.  It is an OLD kitchen and was hand built by one of the former owners which means there is no rhyme or reason to the cabinetry and lost dead space in the corners (no lazy susans), an UGLY countertop (it is almost zebra striped!! LOL), and an old porcelain sink that has seen better days (the porcelain is no longer pretty, shiny or white anymore!).  When we moved in, we were going to gut the kitchen and start over putting in new cabinets, sink and countertops, hard wood flooring, etc.  We do feel God telling us to move to a nearby town, but when.....we are not sure of.  SO............I told hubby if I have to live here much longer, I am going to take a sledge hammer to the kitchen! LOL  He agreed we should take a trip to Lowe's and see how much a new countertop and sink would cost and even agreed that with his schedule and lack of plumbing and carpentry skills, we should pay extra and have them installed.  I am thrilled to hear this, because I know they will be finished, done correctly, and in a timely manner!!!!  We will hold off on the floors, and cabinets because we are not wanting to put gobs of money into this house to sell it.  I can't wait though!!!  I will put a fresh coat of paint on the cabinets though and hang some new curtains, etc.

So as you can tell our long weekend will be be spent patching walls, painting in 2 different rooms, etc.

Well thanks for listening to my ramblings today.

God Bless,

Amy Jo

Praise God for the peace back in your home You know, the way I look at things? We learn from our actions..Maybe things were not handled just the right way with this young troubled girl, but if the oppertunity arises again you now have a better insight..God does have the plan...God bless...Debbie
