I decided to take a break on all my cleaning duties today (the house is in pretty good shape anyway), and with Matthew coming in late Thursday nights, I don't have to fix a big supper either (corn dogs and mac and cheese is always good for these nights, when there are no leftovers in the fridge!), so I focused on the sewing projects today!
I hope to show you all pictures later on this weekend (after hubby downloads the pictures and such for me.....no I still haven't learned how. But I am going to learn how this weekend!!! What??? I am serious!! I promise! LMSO) I made the most adorable sundress (this has been on my list of things to get done for WEEKS now, and something kept coming up to keep me from getting it done. And it was only a 5 minute project with the already smocked fabric I bought at Wal-Mart) in a pink Disney fabric. My 4 year old neice, MIndi, came over today, so that I could make sure it woulf fit and so I could determine how long the ribbon straps needed to be, so I got some action shots of her with it on. She was wearing the cutest pair of sandals today that will go perfect with this dress when she wears it to church. They are white, and have small pictures of three of the princesses on them. They will match perfectly!
The second thing I made was a denim jean apron for a girlfriend, who had her birthday a day or so ago, and I am late getting her present to her. I know....I feel bad about it too, but she is so sweet and understanding about it, and hasn't given me a hard time about it at all! LOL I took pictures of the process too, because I have had several comments and emails when I posted the pictures of my denim aprons on how to make them, or the ruffling. So I will post the apron and a tutorial soon!
The third thing I made today??? CURTAINS!!! I have had the most gorgeous fabric to make curtains for my laundry room forever, and just couldn't get myself to start on them. I have never made curtains before, but these were a breeze!!! It is about time too, because the wino curtains were driving me crazy!!! (They were left by the previous owner, and had wine bottles, wine glasses, leaves and grapes all over them, and were very dark!) The new curtains are in light shades of pale yellows, and greens and white and has daisies on them, and a beautiful little saying on them too. I can't wait to show you all and see what you think. I will take before and after pictures tomorrow and post. Matthew is going to help me hang them, because well..........I am short, and the other reason is..........when I stand on things, I seem to fall off and break things........like bones in my wrist. (ok, so SEVERAL years ago, before Matthew, and at a different house, I decided I didn't need to call Daddy to change my air filter in the AC unit, and that by standing on one of the bar stools from the kitchen, I could just about reach it. So I stood there, for a total of 2.4 seconds before falling, and trying to catch myself with a hand. Which is exactly the moment my wrist went CRACK and I started feeling the pain. Thank goodness it was a clean break, and I had insurance!!! Our emergency room WILL NOT put on cast on a patient. They send you to a specialist in the city an hour an a half away for them to re-exray it, and say yep, it sure is broken, and then they put a pretty bright pink cast on you (because the light blue was really ugly and I didn't want orange!) and then you come back in several weeks, have it xrayed again (now the third time), to see if it healed and then pay him to cut the ting off of you! All in all, this would have cost me over $3000.00 without my insurance at the time. Orthopedic surgeons are expensive!)
