So Cold! Perfect for butchering chickens!

We have been hoping that the weather would stay nice and cold for today so we could butcher chickens.  We had bought a bunch of chicks  that was a mix of breeds awhile back so we are now thinning out the breeds that are not the best.  We were a little worried about the 4 year old being out there but she has had no problem with it.  She enjoyed it last year but children change from year to year and you never know.

Update:

Well, we are done for the day.  We ended up with 30 chickens done.  Hopefully we can do the other 50 some other time.  Tomorrow we have a reuonin to go to and that always involves a lot of baking.  Now to just get caught up on the laundry.

I have a couple of chickens I want to get butchered tomorrow. I hope I can. But I don`t have 30, mines more like 3or 5 right now. sheryl

Wow! You have been so busy! Though we raise them, we've never butchered our own chickens. (There is a farm not far from here that does it and so we sent them in to be done). Sounds like you'll be all ready for winter!
