Bread and butter pickles and homemade bread

My garden has been producing a lot od summer squash here lately so I turned them into bread and butter pickles.  Every couple of years I make these and I just love them.  This year  added an extra bit of garlic.  In my mind garlic makes everything better. 

Today was also our baking day.  I went ahead and made extra brownies and muffins since I am taking Sat off from my daily duties for the last Harry Potter book.  The bread is resting right now while the cinnamon rolls are in the oven. 

I can't do laundry today or even work in the garden due to the rain but I am not complaining.  We really need the rain at this point.  Besides it has given us a break from the heat but tomorrow is to be worse.  Welcome to Illinois home of heat and humidity.  I am hoping that the ground will dry a bit in the next few days so I can go pick sweet corn.  We are hoping to put up about 24 dozen more.  Then it will be time to make pickles again and salsa.  If there are enough tomatoes at that point maybe a bit of sauce.  There is always enough work to keep me busy.
