• December 8, 2007 - SNOW!!!!!!!!!!
Posted By Carrie
Oh I am sooooo very behind here. Sorry about that. :-)
We actually got our first snow of the Season on Nov. 21st. It was so pretty coming down out here around the timber. I love the look of fesh fallen snow on the trees just as I do when you have ice on the tree branches...................so very pretty I tried to upload a couple pictures to place here but they were huge! So if someone can tell me how to get them on here smaller I'd appreciate the help. :-)
Well we have about 4 inches of snow on the ground here so far and have more coming tonight and tomorrow to the tune of 1-3 inches more. Woohoo! Although I do worry about all of our animals. Thank heavens we have them so they are just budded up to the timber tree line which is to the North of our property so the animals are south of that and protected from the harsh north winds. we are actually trying to sell our Pygmy buck. We just dont have adiquate shelter for him for the winter and he is tearing the heck out of his fencing as he is trying to get to my Nubian doe whom is in the pen next to him! LOL! |

• October 3, 2007 - FALL!~!!!!!!!!!
Posted By Carrie
Woohoo! Autumn is officially here! I just love "FALL"! It is my favorite time of the year next to Christmas time. I just love Ole Fashioned Christmas's. :-)
We have been busy here around the homestead with finishing up some remodeling projects, repairs, as well as getting ready for winter. We have lots yet to do around here as well. We are wanting to get a roof on our chicken coop, winterize our area of the barn where goats head for shelter. We also want to make a sloped roof storage area off our garage to park the lawn tractor in as well as our feed for the animals to free up some much needed room in our garage so that we can get the 4 wheeler in and out more easily without having to move everything out of the way each time.
We are also wanting to sell our Pygmy buck (he is so loveable) as we just hate having to keep him isolated from our Nubian Doe and other Pygmy whether that in together. So with winter coming we plan to sell him and possibly the whether as well and look for another Nubian Doe.
For exciting news, our 21 yr old daughter had her first baby on Sept. 22nd (wasn't due until 10-7) She had a baby boy, "Peyton Lee" who weighed just 6lbs - 61/4oz and was 20.5 in long with a full head of blond hair! :-) Speaking of which, she is bringing him up here for the first time since being home, so I nedd to go get things picked up a bit around here! :-) |

• July 19, 2007 - VERY THANKFUL!!!!!
Posted By Carrie
| I am very thankful that we served the thunderstorms and tornados last night! I had gone into town to pick up my daughter from her Aunts house, took her to dinner and then we were suppose to go to church.......................well the storm was coming fast so I took her back to her Aunt and headed home.............only I got caught in it and was driving right into it! So I had to stop at my oldest daughters house and ride it out. TALK ABOUT SCARY!!!! :-( There was tons of fallen trees and power lines, damages to houses, cars and yards furniture etc! Thank God we were ok and our homestead was ok! |

• July 17, 2007 - Check In from 7 Hills!
Posted By Carrie
Good Morning Everyone!
I hope this finds you all well. :-) We have had horrible thunder storms here since yesterday! Just horrible. We needed the rain though. Very much so.
Well lets see.........last Friday I had lots of errands in the afternoon, then Kerry and I took Dakota to stay with my SD for the night as we were suppose to go camping for the night just the two of us, but my DH forget to get the tent from the other house when he was there. So we went out for supper instead and then over to a friends house to visit and had a nice time.
Saturday we ran into town and got some feed for the goats and ran a couple other errands. We got back home and did things around here and had a nice day. Although Dakota came down with a fever and was not feeling well. We did not make it to church Sunday (I really wanted to go) as we had to help Kerry's oldest daughter move to her new house and we did not get home until real late! Dakota was ok as long as we kept some Motrin in him. We were both tired, especially Kerry as he did most of the lifting and moving. My back has been bothering me so I couldn't do much. :-(
Yesterday Dakota woke up with a slite fever and kept telling me he didn't feel good and then eventually threw up, Not fun. But after that he was fine all day. I had to run to town and do a few errands and then met my DH after he got off work and Dakota rode home with daddy while I followed. :-) We were only home long enough to change as we had to attend my BIL surprise BDay party. It was nice. We don't get to see them much so that was a nice visit. I also had a gentleman call me about Watkins that had scene a flyer we posted at a convenience store! That was great! :-) I like those kinds of orders....easy! LOL!
Today I have to get ready for my Usborne Books home show I have tonight. The Youth Pastors wife is hosting it for me. I am soooooooooo excited about this one! :-)
The bank still has not got things together yet and Kerry is beside himself! UUGGHH! Please continue to pray on our entire housing situation for us. Thank you so much!

• June 18, 2007 - Catching Up!
Posted By Carrie
My where does the time go??? :-) I have been so busy with other things that I have not taken the time to write here. Sorry for that.
Well since I wrote last, our 4 baby Bronze turkeys died. that sure was a dissapointment. We don't know why, but they all died at once. That morning they were fine. The goats are doing well and such love bugs! :-) Tilda, my Nubian is so cute and loveable. Murphy, my Pygmy whether is still so timid and won't let me get to close to him. I dont know why. Zander, my Pygmy buck is also very loveable. :-) I would have nevee thought I would have gotten goats (although I have always wanted minature ones) but now that I have them, I am glad I was able to get them. We would like to begin raising them to "sell" in the near future.
The chickens are doing good, although we lost a cornish cross due to being pecked to death! She actualy was in so much misery that my DH had to put her out of her misery. We won't be eating her...............I never realized how brutal they could be. :-/
A farm kitty just had 4 baby kittens today and we didn't even knwo she was pregnant! She had 3 black and one yellow. Dakota watched her have them for a little while. Such a precious moment! |

• April 26, 2007 - Severaly Disheartened!
Posted By Carrie
I have not written in awhile. I am very angry at myself for letting someone get to me so. The last time I posted on here, someone, an "anonomous" person left a horribly insultive comment as to what "a fake" I am. I have no idea whom, or why anyone would feel the need to do such a thing. I am not perfect, non of us are. Only our Lord God is. Upon reading the nasty comment, I immediately changed my settings so that only my blog "friends" could read and post here. Then the angrier I got....I mean, many of us post here to share our journey's in our Homestead life, which is a ministry to some to be able to read in those ventures. I feel so betrayed. Even more upset in the fact that I can no longer share my postings in that "open" manner. :-(
I just wanted to share that with you all. |

• April 3, 2007 - Another Year Mark!!
Posted By Carrie
I can't believe it has been a year since our House Fire here! March 31st marked one year. :-( We are still rebuilding from that. I am just truly thank ful that Dakota and I were not hurt at all and that I got little Dakota out of the house in time. It was not a total loss, but just lots of damages.
I know that I have said this alot but this past year truly has been a rough one for me and my family. My FAITH is still intact! |
