Blueberries

We all went Blueberry picking last week, we went on the 3rd day after picking started at the nearby organic farm, the berries are wonderful.

Husband and middle son started off down one row I and the booger started off down another.  What an adventure it is picking blueberries with a toddler on your hip.  Now booger had never had fresh blue berries as his early arrival eliminated our ability to go picking lat year.  Booger loves fresh Blueberries he was pulling them out of my bucket almost as fast as I could pick themJ

Now for those wondering what this has to do with eating Organic on a budget let me get to that now.

My family spent about 45 min enjoying each other exercising we spent $8 dollars $10 if you count gas and we came away with 9 pounds of berries not counting the ones we ate.

We save about $3 dollars a pound, picking our own.

Needless to say we will pick about 50 pounds total before the season ends mostly to freeze I will make some syrup and jam as well.

See if you have a you pick produce place near you and don’t be afraid to take the children, We had Booger with us he isn’t yet one he road nicely in the sling and enjoyed the outing just as much if not more than the rest of us

Oh wow, I can not believe what a good price you get berries for. Everything is so expensive here! Our blueberries are not ready yet but raspberries just came into season this weekend. I am looking forward to going to the berry farm to pick some. We have also started foraging for them in the woods. It is fun, adventurous, and exercise! Love your blog!
