Making the dollar STRETCH

Posted in Tips and tricks

Over the years I have found that many times I need to stretch my food dollar or my evening meal just a little bit further.  So here are some ideas I use to help stretch my ground beef.

 Tacos

I often add cooked bulgar to my taco meat we are up to almost 50/50 here the texture is super close to ground beef and the boys hardly notice.:)

Grated potato is another great meat stretcher Great into brown meat and let simmer with a little taco sauce, tomato sauce or salsa

Lentils are another great Taco meat stretcher I often add these to the burrito’s I keep in the freezer for quick snacks and lunches.

Lentil/ Hamburger Sloppy joes are my favorite!!!  YUMMY

Some other things I have found to stretch my Hamburger a little further are

Rice

Oats

Bread crumbs

I wish my husband wasn't such a meat and potatoes man. He has to have his meat. I myself would love to be a full time vegatarian. But thanks for sharing your tips.
