http://www.chartjungle.com/chores/chorechartfilm.html

If you have older kids who do chorse you may wnat to click the link. It is a free download chore chart. It is a good way to have in writing what your child needs to do so that they can clearly see what you expect of them.

We have child #1 help out. She is almost 6 so we have her doing some simple things such as putting her clothing away after I fold it, or helping to set the table for a meal. We take out what is needed and she puts them at the table where they belong. We have also started taking our kids out 1 at a time for a special treat and 1 on 1 time with Mom or Dad. They love this and it ahs been going well for us.

I have tried to get my boys 3 1/2 and nearly 2 to start helping a little. Like you said with simple things picking up your toys. Throwing things in the garbage. It is slowly working with my older one but when the baby does not pick up or un picks up what he just did...Oh he gets mad yells at his brother and unfortunatly often will run over there and push him. I guess take it in small strides.

I know its hard believe me my kids are almost 6, 4 and coming up to almost 3. My 4 year old probably has autiam, we are working on getting a diagnosis. So I do understand.

This kinda drives hubby nutts, but I allow the kids to play and in the evening or right before my hubby gets home from work I have them clean up their toys in the living room. I do that because it allows them PLENTY of time to play with their things and but the tiem hubby gets home we have dinner or his late nights we are getting ready for bed.

I do try to keep their toys in their room and they are getting better with that as they get older.

My 4 year old is big for causing trouble with her siisters and making a mess so I try to do what works with my kids. I would say its getting easier becasue they are getting older, my middle child tries to help sometimes and my older 2 especially my oldest is a big helper.

I will be posting more charts to help kids out and so they can see what is expected of them.
