Finally! Time spent outdoors in wonderful weather! It was a mild 64 today so we took advantage of it by shortening school and going outside. Our animals enjoyed it too, as we haven't been able to spend much time with them in the cold weather. I took my dog, Abbie, across the creek where our livestock are for the first time since moving here. She paid no attention to the horses or donkey, but was crazy for the goats! Abbie is a big dog, about 75-80 pounds, so I couldn't let her actually "meet" them the way she wanted to. She is half Boxer and half Bouvier Des Flandres, so I guess that makes her at least half of a herding dog. I guess that is what she wanted to do, but until I am sure she wants to "herd" and not "hurt" them they will have to keep their distance. I also had fun doing something I like to do which is clearing up the trees along the creek. Pulling down vines and picking up deadwood is enjoyable and relaxing for me. I think that I like that kind of work better than housework because you can actually see your results and they stick around awhile. Must be why I prefer mowing to cleaning any day! I was glad when we came in that I had put pizza crust in the bread maker earlier that day. The house smelled of garlic, but it sure tasted good! Hopefully we will have good weather tomorrow, as there is lots to do outside. Build fence, refinish furniture, figure out where my wildflower beds are going to go.... But if we get the rain that is predicted (and needed) we can always finish hanging the blinds, put the new computer together, and keep unpacking boxes!
Have a great weekend on your homestead! |
