Mother's Ring & general family ramblings
Posted on Saturday, January 3, 2009 at 02:29
My Holiday gift, mother's ring. (oops, lost picture) It took a lot of effort to find one to fit what all I wanted. The middle stone is a white saphire for God as center of our family. The two on each side are mine and hubby's birthstones, a ruby and topaz (or whatever they use for Nov now...). Then we have two in Jan, garnet, and two in Aug, peridot, which I offset cattycorner from eachother. Then the two babies are Feb, Amethyst, and October, pink stone, which I put at the points. I'm proud of the results, I think it turned out really pretty...
I've been drinking far too much coffee lately (yeah no way mom!)... Okay, I had to change a diaper and the 17yodd got to the keyboard... Well anyway. She filled in at the Chiropractor's office twice this last week, which made our week pretty busy. On top of that, Hubby ended up working on plumbing outside, and Papa's trailor got resold and moved. We ended up making a trip, as a family to get plumbing parts and spending some time in Walmart (yuck) one day before picking up 17yodd, then the other day, after dropping her off, the other children and I popped on down another hour south to visit a darling family with 10 blessings. We had so much fun. I'm always so encouraged and inspired after visiting another homeschooling home. The creativity in which a limited income inspires in housekeeping and decorating is always so neat to see. It always helps me to see the different ideas families will have for education and discipleship of their precious ones. They are just a darling family and we really enjoyed the visit, and I've come home with lots of great ideas (and even some convictions...).
We stopped at the dreaded Walmart again before picking her up so the littlen's could use their holiday gift cards. They picked out lego-type (I think it's mega-blocks..) King Arthur sets. They have so much fun with the legos. These have a ship and castle peices and lots of knights. We also got PhisherPrice Loving Family people. We had a baby with a car seat that Baby just loves, so she really likes having more members for the family. We're considering making a dollhouse for them...
Another thing we've been doing is updating our website. I got oldest-dd involved in this. I'm trying to get her blog thingy so that it's a little more controlable. I'm hoping to kinda create our own. So far it's looking really good. Her individuality is amazing...
Unfortunately I'm really tired now. Even after trying to get a nap every day that we have been home this week. I have a Dr appointment next week, so maybe we can get me back on track real soon.

Bambi & self sacrificing daughters...
Posted on Thursday, December 18, 2008 at 08:50

Here's a picture of Bambi. She's adopted some neighbors of ours and she likes candy... They put the orange collar on her so hunters from the city wouldn't shoot her durring hunting season. All the farmers and oil field guys have gotten attatched to her and let her eat out'a their trucks and bring her special snacks... She's so friendly. The children really enjoyed petting her...
"Hey mom! About the snowmen; Why does no one think of us poor 'big kids'? The little kids like the mess, the moms like the added junk and the dads like the cheepness of the project, but where do the 'big kids' come in on this? I mean, we have to clean the mess, we have to keep the kids contained; we sacrafice so much and yet (sniff, sniff) no one pays any attention to us... waaaaaaaaa! We're just handy! Waaaahaaaa!
Just kidding! Love you!
Your darling, self sacrificing, older daughter."
Okay, I'm sure no one would have taken the time to read the comments on my last post, but she's wanting me to do something with this... I know her! I seem to remember her and her sister enjoying the goo, and reading the funnies, even after they were plastered, from inside Mr. Snowman! And what about last night with some of the finishing up... Let me paint, let me paint! That was the 17 year old! And she was under foot the whole time I had the hot glue gun! The bigg'ns get to help with the finishing up and detail work of the projects, which is really the most fun in the end... I put the clearcoat on this afternoon and we'll be putting the hats and scarves on our new snowmen tommorrow. I'll make sure to get pictures of our finished projects!

cards&newsletters...
Posted on Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at 02:33
Newletters are done, but wouldn't ya know it, the printer is out'a ink... Have to wait till hubby gets home to finish printing them out. Hopefully I'll have them sent by the end of the week.
We get so few cards anymore. I had a few years that I only sent to those we received from. It's sad we get an attitude not to give unless we first recieve. It also saddens me that we cannot seem to keep in touch with people and have so many we only make contact with once a year, if that...
On the bright side, we've been making paper-mache snow men. Wow, what a mess! This is the perfect project. The children love it because of the mess, the dads love it because it's cheap, the moms love it because they get a new decoration for the house... Next year we'll probably try to pick something less messy. Then again we may forget by then and pick something just as bad! Who knows what the year will bring! Hopefully we'll have them done soon and I can post pictures of our accomplishment.

School plans & rearanging...
Posted on Sunday, August 24, 2008 at 01:21
I'm in the process of rearanging the house right now, again. I should have done this several weeks ago, but just couldn't decide what I wanted to do with everything. I spent one whole day searching the net for houseplans, being very discontent... Naughty me. I got over it the next day and started making plans and measuring walls and furniture to see where everything might fit.
I wen't to OKC last week to get my new sewing machine, have the surger serviced, and to do some fabric shopping. Hancocks was having quite a sale. I have plenty to keep me busy for quite a while. I'm really enjoying the regency dresses I've made so far.
I don't know how working mothers do it. Five year old son has speach Tues and Thurs 2-3 pm 30 minutes away. He's so looking forward to it. I'm going to take the 8 year old boy along on Tuesdays and see about putting them both in Karate. The boys just really NEED an outlet for their energy. We started school last week. Oldest daughter is going to try to finish 2 years in one and wants to graduate in May. I think she may be pushing it a bit, but I'm sure she'll be done by Dec'09. She's really working hard. daughter #2 has got a pretty full load this year too. She's got English and History to catch up on now that she has the glasses and is reading so much better. She's a tad overwhelmed, but I think she's going to catch up in no time. Eight year old son has got the piddles really bad. He's so smart, but he gets to day dreaming and paying more attention to what everyone else is doing. Almost 7yo daughter would just rather be outside with the critters, so I can't help her fast enough for her to get done. Baby girl of course is wanting to do school too, so she's always in the middle of everything and everyone, trying to help (hep, peez). She LOVES Pooh. We found a cookoo clock in Papa's stuff. "Pooh, Coo!" It's a sick bird, but baby just thinks it's the neatest thing in the world right now. Thursday afternoons, I'm going to take everyone with us and we're gona see the Chiropractor more regularly. Anyway, we are working really hard to have school done in the AM, so the afternoons are free. I'd like to get the girls into gymnastics, but we'll have to wait and see. I think we're going to be co-oping with a neighbor family this year too. Their girls are so smart and creative, and the children always have fun when they visit.

Anniversary Gift & Funnies from the mouth of babes...
Posted on Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at 12:14
This year I have been married half my life. My hubby got me a nice bunch of roses for our first anniversary, but nothing since. I'm not complaining really because he makes sure I have everything I need and much of what I really want on a regular basis. He just doesn't feel gifts are necessary. Anyway, I feel this year is special and I've been whining to everyone who will listen that he'd BETTER do something special for me. Well, last month I was sifting through his American Rifleman magazine and came across the "Pink Lady". Wow, a pink gun, how cute! So guess what I got for my anniversary! It is a really nice little revolver and I can't wait to get it cleaned up and do some practicing. Watch out rattle snakes and skunks!
From the mouths of Babes: Well, not really the baby this time, the 16 3/4 year old. Yesterday she asked for a cup of coffee saying, "Maybe it will help with this 'fat-i-goo'." I had to think about it for a minute before I realized she was complaining of fatigue! She had been reading this word in her online driver's ed all last fall, not understanding how it was pronounced...
