Warm Days

It has been very warm here lately and I love it. The fruit trees all have flowers, my seeds came in the mail and my roses are on the way. Our land is coming alive and is looking better each day as we clean up all of the stuff left behind from the previous owners. As my daughter runs out to the porch with her overalls and bare feet I smile and thank God for all he has given us.  There are chickens in the yard, ducks in the pond, and the chatter of birds all around. The main food garden is tilled and I spend my days starting seeds and planning and reading. The tomatoes are poking up today, so tiny yet filled with so much possibility of what they will be someday. Life is funny too. We came home from church last Sunday and there were chickens running loose in the house. We finished the coop the next day. Each day is filled with wonder, excitement and possibilities. There are surprise flowers popping up all over. Yesterday I climbed the hill to find one red tulip in a small garden area that has been long neglected. There are johnny jump ups everywhere. Yes there are briars, honeysuckle gone wild and the dandelions are taking over the lower yard... but life is full of weeds. I just choose to look upon that which is lovely instead....

I just found you and I'm looking forward to learning from you. I'm a 48 year old garden virgin and I really want to graduate from window herbs to a simple little kitchen garden.
