Luxury living in college

Did any of you see on the national news this morning the story on "luxury" dorm rooms?  I was just disgusted.  More and more colleges are building these luxury accomodations for students, and kids are starting to look first at what the standard of living is rather than what kind of education they will get when choosing colleges!  One college featured has $1900 per month dorm rooms!  Granite countertops, fully furnished with $4000 couches!  These "dorms" are fancier than most homes I've seen!

What concerns me is that this is the first "real world" experiences some of these kids are having, and after four years living in the lap of luxury, what will they do when they graduate?  When they have real bills, and real jobs with real pay?  Of course they aren't going to want to lower their standard of living!  So out come the credit cards to finance this lifestyle they grew accustomed to!  I just sat shaking my head as I watched this story- it's so very sad!  What kind of future are we cultivating?  When will the thinking that "I deserve this so I'm going to have it" stop?

We live in the land of entitlement!!
I am surprised it took THIS long to have such luxuries!!
I know 16 year olds that drive Audi's and Mercedes. New, show room floor cars.
They are the same kids that have had their cell phones, no less than 100.00 cash, and a debit card to their own accounts. AT THE AGE OF 9!!!

It's a sick world and satans driving.

It's the "enemy's" world right now. And this is really sad. I don't think it's a "real world" experience at all. Nothing about that kind of college life reflects reality, where it's a world of just male and females, all basically the same age, with no (or very little) supervision or accountability.

My two oldest girls are attending college out of state. They live together in a small house, which they rent. They are both working right now and have to pay all their own bills. Their little house is cute, but it's sparse. They really don't have much, because they can't afford it. We've helped them here and there somewhat when it was an emergency, but it's not easy for them right now. They've chosen this life/situation and are living it to the best of their ability. I feel they are learning lessons which will last them a lifetime, which these other students are missing out on, with everything so luxurious and all things taken care of for them. It will be reflected in the next generation that comes up and lives, works, and governs our America.
