Help needed

We seem to have a cat that hangs around our house that is in heat. I think that it is in heat it is making some screeching noises at all hours of the day. Does anyone have any advice? I tried to go outside and make sure it wasn't in pain or anything, but I couldn't find it. It spent about 4 hours last night 'singing'. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

...she's not in pain....trust me....four litters of kittens over the last year has proven to me that those sounds are NOT sounds of pain....

..we go to the Riverbanks Zoo, too!! We LOVE the Lorkeets (sp?) exhibit.
