Peace, not bitterness
The day after my husband lost his job, we took the kids to a park in a neighboring town with a lake. This is a photo I took of Adam feeding the geese. We had a wonderful, peaceful family time. And we realized some things. This realization came in two parts. First, when Adam asked "What's Daddy doing at home with us?" And the second when we went to church Sunday and Mark realized he hadn't been able to come in quite a while. God gave us Mark's promotion that allowed me - almost exactly one year ago - to become a stay-at-home mom and homeschool the kids. But slowly but surely we hadn't noticed that Mark's job had become our number one priority. He worked 60 - 80 hours a week and was rarely home. Mark said it hit him when his 4-year-old thought it was really odd that he was home with the family. We feel that God gave Mark this promotiion, but the minute we put his job above his family, his church family and utimately - God - that He took it away. We are still aprehensive about making with neither one of us working, but we trust that God will enable Mark to find another job soon. And we pray that this time, we will not let the job take over his life. Today is exactly one week from the day he lost his job, and we have found peace instead of bitterness.
