Extended family @ the parkOn Saturday I took the kids (the Lion was working) to the park, where we met with my older brother and his family for a cookout. All I had to bring was bring a peach cobbler for dessert, they graciously provided everything else. Unfortunately, as the cobbler was sitting in the passenger front seat, it tilted and half of it slid out of the pan into the seat. What a mess! We ate what was left though. Anyone have any good ideas for transporting food? Anyway, I just had to share some photos from our outing. The first one is of the Cub. I snapped this picture as he walked from the playground equipment to the bench where I was seated. I thought he was mad, but he was really putting on a mad face to try and keep from crying. Another little boy on the playground had hit him. I didn't see any kind of mark, and I think it hurt the Cub's feelings more than anything. But boy, did my maternal instincts rise to the surface and make me mad! I held my tongue and didn't say a word, though. I figure that at some point he has to learn to "fight his own battles" so to speak. I don't know how he reacted to the boy, but I am proud that he didn't just immediately start crying but walked calmly off the playground first!
This is my big brother, using the park's grill to cook hamburger's and hot dogs.
And this is the Cub, happily playing on one of the park's toys. I'm sure he was dreaming of the day when he could be like Daddy and drive the family around!
