Isn't it beautiful? I love yard sales, but it's still too cold for them here. So last Saturday I was excited to see an outdoor estate sale listed in the paper. I went and came home with several treasures. But this is - by far - is my favorite. Now that I'm really getting into baking, I have been longing for a mixer on a stand. My husband and I had talked about it, but didn't think we could spare the money right now. The cheapest one I found was $100 at Wal-mart. I saw this at the estate sale and asked if it worked. There were several older people running the sale (presumably the children of the deceased woman). They said they had plugged it in earlier and yes, it worked. The price? $5.00! I snatched it up immediately! It even came with two different size bowls and the original instruction booklet. According to the instruction booklet, it was manufactured in 1976. The mixer wasn't this pretty when I got it. It was covered with dust and even some old food, but I went to work cleaning and disinfecting it. Then I spent quite some time polishing it with vinegar. But look what I have now! A shiny mixer that I had been wanting, and I love the retro look. Now I hadn't exactly prayed for a mixer, but I do believe God put this there for me to find to aid me in our new homestead endeavors. And it's nice to know the mixer the deceased lady had probably slaved over making goodies for her family will now make goodies for mine. And yes, it works great!
