Cookin' It Up!

The art of Homemaking

I was reading Kay's Blog (kayinpa) about homemaking and it got me thinking. She is so right! Homemaking is such a fulfilling career. It is amazing, if I just follow God's role for me, I feel better. I feel better all over!
I recently read Debi Pearl's Created to His Help Meet and it really changed my outlook on life. The book is specifically written for wives and concerns the marriage relationship, but it encompases life. If I could apply those principles to my living, then all my relationships would be what God desires. Relationship with my husband, my children, my family, and my friends.

Anyway, all that to get back to the point. Doing what God created me to be, a homemaker, a person that makes this house a home, makes me fill with joy.

My first step toward this goal is spending less time in front of this computer. I was shocked at how much time I wasted here. I've had time to do things, I haven't had time to do in a long time. It's exciting.

It is exciting, but challenging. I've had to break old patterns and that has not been the easiest thing. But God is good and He is my strength.

Ok, this started out good, but I just jumped all around. Enter into my world of the many thoughts just swimming around in my head, one day I will get them to all make sense. LOL

Hey Felicia!

I did a study with other ladies from my church last fall on this book. You're right...it completely changes your outlook on the role God has placed us in as wives and mommys. For those who haven't read it, you should know the writer speaks bluntly and plainly...approach it with a teachable heart and open mind, and you might just get a few good things from it. Take the Bible at 100%; take this one at 80-90% :)

Much love,
Michelle
