Cookin' It Up!

Homemade Christmas

10:00, December 26, 2006 .. 2 comments .. Link

The last few years we have really tried to give homemade gifts for Christmas. I thought I would share what we have done in the past in hopes that it would inspire you.

Things we have done in the past:

pajamas (pants for the guys and gowns for the girls)

fleece ponchos

baby doll cradle

wire crosses

stained glass

candles

deer jerky

deer sausage

bread

baby doll blanket

wooden crate (toy box)

cookies

wood burning art

There are so many things you can create. My mom even gave me a book that she had painted a beautiful garden scene on the cover. I treasure that. I'm not much of a painter, so it's not something that I could pull off. I don't like having to go buy stuff, because it really is just stuff. But a homemade gift adds a special touch that will be treasured for years. Christmas shouldn't be about the price tag, but about the reason we give.

Hopefully next year you will have planned ahead and be able to make up some special gifts. If you also make Christmas gifts, please share your ideas with me as I am always looking for new ideas.

That would make for a wonderful gift, any gift can come from a store, but when someone takes the time to make them, they come from the heart and hold a higher value...

Great ideas! I always wish I had done more handmade items. I really need to start now as I always wait until there isn't much time left.
