Maybe the Amish have something here!

I don't know about you, but I myself really admire the Amish for the way they live.   When you pass by an Amish home you always see children outdoors either doing chores or playing...WHAT....playing outside....wow, this seems like a new concept to my kids. With all the technology we have these days it is no wonder mine are either on the computer, phone and watching tv all the time...then chore time comes...oh you would think it is the end of the world around here, lol

So I plan on introducing dd4 to the outdoors, I know it sounds very mean of me to do, but she will like it soon enough, she just doesn't know it yet!  Time for this Mom to teach dd the simpler things in life and they aren't all on the TV!!!

I remember playing outside all the time...looking for 4 leaf clovers, making necklaces out of flowers, playing games!! and running...just for the sake of playing!!   Off to force her outside to see what the sun really looks like!  Have a great day!!

I was ALWAYS outside as a kid. I was not 'allowed' inside unless it was SO hot my skin was melting, or it was so cold I was blue!!

Something that will help encourage a child who has not been raised outside......you go out with her! Plant a garden (veggie or flower) or start an outdoor project. Let her see you enjoying the outdoors, and she will be more likely to do the same!!

I agree about the Amish. Although I do not envy their legalism, I do think they are right on the money when it comes to living simply. How I would LOVE to have 'community and fellowship' like they do!!

This is why we did away with tv in the house this year. My kids are outside constantly now. Much better option for them!
