• Tuesday, March 25, 2008 - Old Fashion Apple Stack cake
This recipe is from one of my who belonged to the women`s circle group. I belong to this group about 15 or 16 years. This recipe was her grandmothers. I am not sure how old it is but Goldie died about 10 years ago and she was up in her eighties.
2c. granulated sugar
2/3 c. shortening
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. buttermilk to which add, 1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
Mix all together, then add 3 1/2 or 4 cups flour or enough to make a stiff dough like making biscuits. Roll out on a floured surface. The size of shape you want 1/2 or 1/4 inch thick. Bake in pan or cookie sheet.
This makes wonderful cookies. Roll out and cut with cookie cutter.
Put cake together with dried apples or whatever desired. Stack up 3 or 4 layers.
