• Friday, March 14, 2008 - Family coming for a visit

I am going to go crazy.   My mom called last night to let me know that they are coming down for a visit Saturday.  I didn`t freak out too much until she tells me my brother and his new wife are coming to. OMG!   My house is a mess!  We have been working on the upstairs taking down wall paper and flooring.  Plus painting.  On top of, that all the running I have had to do.  We did get the mess straighten out with our new sofa.   Last week we purchased a new sofa, got home, it wasn`t what we picked out.  So after a week of trying to get something done about it, we took it back and traded for a different one.  Comes to find out they(manufacturer) changed the style of the sofa and didn`t tell the furniture store they had.  It was a big mess  for the store.   Good news for us.  The sofa we traded for was cheaper.   I like a lot better too.
So here is my schedule for this evening and tonight.  Finish schooling, clean, speed clean and of course, clean.  Then when hubby gets home.  I have to follow him into town to take his truck and drop it off at his friends house.  Go get groceries for dinner tomorrow. Some time tonight bake a chocolate cake.  Maybe get some sleep. lol.   I will have to straighten the mess upstairs some how so it doesn`t look so bad.
Then tomorrow.   I have to take DS to his baseball tryouts at 9am. Who knows how long that will be.   Hopefully not very long.  Then come home and get ready to start dinner and do any cleaning take I might not get done tonight.  Thankful the girls will be home tomorrow and they can help out while I am at baseball tryouts.
Here is what I have planned for dinner tomorrow.
Pork chops baked in brown gravy
Mashed potatoes
corn
green beans
baked macaroni and cheese
homemade buttermilk biscuits
chocolate cake
I sure hope that is enough.  I keep thinking I should make something else.  Maybe I will make broccoli casserole.  I think, I will make one.   I have a good recipe for a broccoli casserole and a lot of people tells me it is good.   I have to tell this one because I think it is funny.  Christmas dinner at my sisters house, standing in line waiting to fix my plate.  My stepmoms brother in law was standing in front of me (going back for seconds) told me I had to try the broccoli casserole because it was sooo good.   I told him "thank you" I made it.   I was worried because I had forgotten an ingredient.   Please don`t get me wrong I am not trying to brag.   I am so thankful everyday that God put me in the family he did. Now my family is not perfect.  I am thankful I was born in a family with women who all were strong role models for me.   My grandmothers, my mom and my aunts all have taught me so much.   They all taught me how to cook, which they all are/were GREAT COOKS, and I will never measure up to them when it comes to cooking.  I have for a long time wanted to post about them and how I was raised.  I think I will do that later.  Because I don`t have time today.  I need to get off of here and get busy.

I know that panic feeling!! Those are the times I wish my house looked wonderful all of the time which it doesn't! But, it will work out fine, it always does. Most of our family will be here the 22nd and I am almost in a panic about that, time is closing in on me. But I have gotten quite a few things done already, and again, it will work out.
Have fun with your family and enjoy your time together.
